A Boiler Operator is tasked with a range of essential functions critical for the smooth and protected running of boiler systems. The primary duties include monitoring the operation, maintenance, and repair of boiler systems. Operators are expected to regularly inspect equipment, monitor temperature and pressure readings, conduct routine cleaning, and ensure that systems are operating efficiently and safely.
In emergency situations, the Boiler Operator must promptly resolve issues to prevent operational disruptions or safety hazards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operation of Boiler Systems: Operate the boilers and associated equipment safely and efficiently. Monitor boiler operations and make adjustments to ensure optimal performance. Start up and shut down boilers according to standard operating procedures.
Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor all the gauges, meters, and controls to monitor/improve the boiler performance and fulfill the production requirements. Monitoring the fuel stock and maintain the required stock quantity. Report any abnormalities/concerns immediately to Boiler In-charge.
Maintenance and Repairs: Perform routine maintenance tasks on boilers and auxiliary equipment. Co-ordinate with boiler In-charge and replace defective valves, gauges & other boiler parts as needed with maintenance team to minimize the downtime.
Quality Control: Maintain proper boiler water quality to prevent scaling, corrosion, and fouling. Use appropriate chemical additives (Anti scalant, pH boosters) based on water quality.
Implement effective blowdown procedures to maintain water quality. Check the total moisture and GCV of the fuel received. Ensure the fuel quality as per standard specifications.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
Cleaning: Regularly clean internal & external surfaces of the boiler and boiler area including tubes, bag filter, casing, insulation and piping. Remove the ash, dust, dirt and around the boiler equipment.
Record Keeping: Keep logs and records of boiler operations including Water level, Steam pressure & temperature, fuel consumption and steam production. Maintain lists of activities carried out in each shift and communicating the same with next shift operator. Inform the Boiler In-charge in case of major deviation / Observation.
Collaboration: Work closely with maintenance technicians and other department personnel to coordinate maintenance and repair activities.
Training & Development: Actively participate in training programs conducted by the Organisation as and when required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience: Must hold valid Boiler First class or second-class certificate as per Indian boiler regulations. Above three years of experience in boiler operation and maintenance preferred.
Education: Diploma, ITI or equivalent in Mechanical (or) Electrical. Technical (or) vocational training in boiler operation and maintenance is a plus.
