1. Look after the overall duty of the personnel in the department.
2. Maintain good co–ordination and communication with other departments for effective functioning.
3. Ensure that serving and maintenance of all diagnostic and therapeutic equipments are maintained properly.
4. Annual maintenance contract follow up work must be done in time.
5. Medical equipments insurance follow up must be done in time.
6. Involving in purchase activities like vendor selection, product evaluation, specification comparison etc, during the new equipment purchase.
7. Breakage and missed items if any must be brought to the knowledge of management.
8. Ensure that minimum stock of spare parts for all the critical equipments are maintained at all times.
9. Periodical evaluation and assessment of the department personnel.
10. Maintain the inventory of all equipments of the hospital and keep note of all the details related to its performance.
11. Ensure that preventive maintenance test is done for necessary equipments of the hospital.

Ensure Calibration is done for all necessary medical equipments of the hospital.
13. Perform additional responsibilities and duties assigned by the immediate superiors
14. Give training to the staff of various departments who handle equipments entrusted.
15. Go on daily rounds to the departments to find any fault and rectify the same.
16. Maintain all the files records and registers entrusted up to date.
17. Perform the servicing and preventive maintenance of all the equipments in times.
18. Breakage and missed items if any must be brought to the knowledge of In charge BME properly.
19. Do, when necessary, preventive maintenance for the equipments entrusted.
20. All work assigned by the management time to time as per the exigencies.
