Role Description The Bakery and Pastry Chef Commi-2 is a full-time, on-site role based at The Shalimar Hotel in Mumbai. The role involves assisting in daily production of breads, pastries, cookies, and other baked items for hotel outlets and events.

Responsibilities include measuring and mixing ingredients, preparing doughs and batters, operating bakery equipment, and ensuring consistent product quality and presentation. The Commi-2 supports senior chefs with food preparation, maintains hygiene and safety standards, organizes mise en place, and helps with inventory and storage.



The role also includes working collaboratively with the culinary team to develop and refine bakery offerings that align with the hotel’s standards.

Qualifications

- Practical experience and foundational knowledge in bakery operations and baking techniques.
- Skills in food preparation, including handling ingredients, following recipes, and maintaining product consistency.
- Ability to prepare a variety of bakery items such as bread and cookies with attention to taste and presentation.
- Understanding of kitchen hygiene, food safety regulations, and proper use and cleaning of bakery equipment.
- Certificate or diploma in Bakery, Pastry, Culinary Arts, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong time management, teamwork, and communication skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Willingness to work flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, as per hotel operations.
