Role Summary

Cognizant is seeking experienced Business Analysts / Product Owners with deep expertise in Renewable Energy Trading to support transformation programs across European energy markets. The role requires strong functional knowledge of power trading lifecycle, renewable asset integration, and agile delivery.

Key Responsibilities

1. Business Analysis & Product Ownership

- Elicit, analyze, and document business and functional requirements across energy trading systems

- Translate complex trading needs into epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria

- Drive backlog prioritization aligned with business value and regulatory requirements

- Define As-Is / To-Be processes for trading, scheduling, settlement, and asset optimization

2. Energy Trading Functional Expertise

- Work across core trading lifecycle:
- Long-term and short-term power trading

- Day-ahead / intraday market operations

- Trade capture, risk management, and settlement

- Support integration with

- Renewable assets – wind, solar, batteries, bioenergy

- SCADA systems and asset monitoring platforms

3. Market & Regulatory Alignment

- Provide functional expertise in European energy markets, including:
- Wholesale electricity markets

- Ancillary services (balancing markets, reserves)

- Ensure compliance with market regulations, grid codes, and reporting requirements

4. Stakeholder Management

- Collaborate with traders, asset managers, operations, and IT teams

- Act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams

- Facilitate workshops, demos, and requirement validation sessions

5. Agile Delivery

- Lead or support agile ceremonies (sprint planning, grooming, retrospectives)





- Work closely with engineering teams to ensure timely delivery

- Drive UAT, defect resolution, and release readiness

Required Skills & Experience

Domain Expertise

- Strong experience in Energy & Utilities domain

- Hands-on experience in:
- Power trading (long, short-term, intraday markets)

- Trade lifecycle (capture → scheduling → settlement)

- Understanding of renewable energy ecosystems (wind, solar, battery storage, bioenergy)

Market Knowledge

- Experience in European energy markets (mandatory)

- Good understanding of
- Wholesale power markets

- Ancillary services / balancing mechanisms

Technical & Functional Skills

- Experience in renewable energy trading and optimisation (mandatory)

- Exposure to SCADA / asset telemetry systems

- Strong understanding of data flows, APIs, and system integrations

BA / PO Capabilities

- Expertise in requirement gathering, process modeling, and documentation

- Solid Agile / Scrum experience (Product Owner preferred)

- Ability to simplify complex business problems into actionable solutions

- Preferred Qualifications

- MBA or equivalent degree preferred

- Product Owner / Scrum certifications

- Experience in digital transformation programs in utilities

- Exposure to cloud platforms and data analytics
