Recruise: Executive Search and Talent Advisory
Bengaluru
Recruise is looking for a filmmaker who can build our visual identity on screen, from the first idea to the final cut.
This is not a videographer or a video-editor role. You will take the work all the way through: concept, story, shoot, direction, edit, final film.
You will work with our marketing and leadership teams on short-form social content, interviews, documentary-style films, brand stories, campaign films and formats nobody has tried yet. Think filmmaker, director of photography, editor and creative producer in one person.
We do not expect you to know everything. We do expect taste, curiosity, initiative and a strong instinct for storytelling.
Location : Bengaluru, on-site.
Type : full-time, or an internship for an exceptional candidate.
Pay: ₹6 lakh a year (CTC) for the full-time role. The internship carries a paid stipend.
Start: immediately.
Experience : students and self-taught filmmakers are welcome.
What you will do
Develop ideas. Turn business and marketing briefs into stories worth watching. We are looking for someone who reads a straightforward brief and says there might be a more interesting way to tell this.
Direct and shoot. You will be our in-house director of photography. You do not need an expensive kit. We care far more about what you can make with a camera than which camera you own.
Edit the story. You will own the edit from raw footage to final film, and you should be comfortable taking an imperfect shoot and finding the best story in the footage.
Tell stories about people. A large part of this role is documentary-style work, where the best moments are rarely the scripted ones.
Build recurring formats. We do not want one-off videos forever. You will help us develop recognisable series for Recruise across LinkedIn,
Instagram and YouTube, with real freedom to experiment.
What we are looking for
- Strong visual and storytelling instinct.
- A good understanding of cinematography: framing, composition, lighting and sound.
- The ability to shoot independently.
- Strong editing skills in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro or equivalent.
- Comfort directing people on camera.
- A sense of pacing and rhythm.
- Curiosity about filmmaking, advertising, social media and culture.
- The ability to work on your own and move quickly.
More important than any of that: taste . We would rather hire someone with an unusual, compelling 60-second film than someone with a technically perfect but generic corporate showreel. You might be the person we are looking for if you make short films in your spare time, shoot video for fun, run a YouTube or Instagram channel, make music videos, shoot documentaries, cut comedy or sketch videos, have made student films, notice the cinematography when you watch a film, hold strong opinions about editing, or can make something compelling with very little equipment. You do not need to have worked at a production house.
Tools
- Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro for editing.
- After Effects, Photoshop or Illustrator for motion and design.
- DSLR and mirrorless cameras, cinema cameras, gimbals, tripods, lighting,
wireless microphones and audio recorders on set. Creative ability comes first.
Education We welcome candidates from film and filmmaking, cinematography, visual communication, mass communication, media studies, digital media, animation, advertising, design and visual arts. A formal film degree is not required, and a strong portfolio can matter more than a degree.
Your portfolio
Please do not send us only a CV. We want to see the work: a showreel of 45 to 90 seconds of three to five of your best projects, personal work included. For each one, tell us the idea, whether you directed, shot or edited it, what you did yourself and how you thought about it.
We want to understand your contribution, not only watch a finished film.
Who will thrive here
Someone curious about new formats and ideas, resourceful enough to make good work without a large production budget, and observant about people, details and moments. You should be willing to try something that has not been done before, happy to shoot in the morning and edit in the afternoon, and opinionated about what makes content good without losing that instinct when you get feedback. The role will change quickly, so you will need to learn fast.
How to apply
Apply through this form: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/r/0eAd2Fa1yX
It asks for your showreel, your projects and your CV, and takes about ten minutes. Please do not email us instead, because the form keeps every application in one place.
What happens next
We give you a 48-hour creative test. You get a dull announcement and you turn it into something people would want to watch, shot however you like, on a phone if that is what you have.
