Job Overview

Botree Software, with 25+ years of legacy in DMS and SFA, has been a trusted partner for businesses seeking robust automation solutions. As we transition into a SaaS-first, insights-driven approach, we are looking for an Assistant Manager – Data Science to design, build, and scale machine learning and analytics solutions that power decision-making for our clients across FMCG, Consumer Durables, and OTC Pharma. This role will work closely with product, engineering, and business teams to translate retail and distribution data into actionable, high-impact intelligence.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, build, and deploy machine learning models (forecasting, recommendation, classification, anomaly detection) to solve real-world retail and distribution problems.
- Lead end-to-end data science projects, from problem framing and data exploration to model development, validation, and production deployment.
- Apply statistical analysis and hypothesis testing to validate business assumptions and measure model impact.
- Translate large-scale distribution, sales, and retail execution data into actionable insights and dashboards for internal and client stakeholders.
- Partner with Product and Business teams to identify high-value analytics use cases across the DMS/SFA product suite.
- Own metrics definition, model performance tracking, and continuous improvement of deployed models.
- Collaborate with data engineering teams to build and maintain robust data pipelines feeding ML models.




- Work closely with product managers and engineering teams to integrate data science outputs into the core product.
- Document methodologies, model logic, and key assumptions to ensure reproducibility and knowledge transfer.
- Mentor and guide junior data scientists/analysts, reviewing their work and building their technical capability.
- Present findings, model outcomes, and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior leadership and clients.
- Stay current with emerging tools, techniques, and best practices in data science and applied ML, and evaluate their fit for Botree's product roadmap.

Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in data science, machine learning, or advanced analytics, ideally in a SaaS or product-based organization.
- Strong proficiency in Python and/or R, SQL, and common ML frameworks/libraries (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, XGBoost, etc.).
- Solid grounding in statistics, machine learning algorithms, and model evaluation techniques.
- Experience working with large, real-world datasets and building production-grade ML pipelines.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to mentor junior team members and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced workplace.

Added Advantage
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is a plus.
- Familiarity with BI/visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar is an advantage.
- Prior experience or domain exposure to FMCG, retail, distribution, or supply chain analytics is a strong plus.
