About the Role

You'll own the day-to-day trading operations for carbon credits and I-RECs in the Indian market. From sourcing supply from domestic IPPs and RE generators to executing trades with Indian corporates, brokers, and compliance buyers, you'll run the full trade cycle. This is a hands-on, execution-heavy role where you'll manage pricing, deal closure, registry transfers, and settlement while building Sustainiam's position as a go-to trading desk for India's rapidly growing voluntary carbon and REC markets.

Scope of Work

- Execute end-to-end trades for carbon credits (VCUs, GS CERs) and I-RECs originating from Indian renewable energy projects (solar, wind, hydro, biomass)

- Build and manage a pipeline of domestic buyers: corporates with RE100/EP100 commitments, ESG-driven enterprises, sustainability consultants, and brokers operating in the Indian market

- Manage supply-side relationships with IPPs, project developers, and Sustainiam's internal BD and Farming teams to ensure credit availability and timely issuance

- Handle pricing, negotiation, and deal structuring for spot and forward transactions in the Indian market

- Execute registry operations:



credit transfers, retirements, and issuance tracking on Verra, Gold Standard, and the I-REC Standard registry

- Track Indian carbon and I-REC market pricing, BEE PAT scheme developments, CCTS updates, and emerging compliance signals to inform trade timing and strategy

- Maintain accurate trade logs, P&L; tracking, and reconciliation reports

- Coordinate with the Global Trade lead on cross-border opportunities where Indian supply meets international demand

- Support onboarding of Indian clients onto Sustainiam's platform for seamless credit procurement and retirement

- Represent Sustainiam at India-focused sustainability events, RE conferences, and trading forums

Ideal Candidate

- Education: MBA or equivalent in Finance, Energy Management, or Sustainability
- BBA/B.Com with strong trading experience also considered

- Experience: 3–6 years in carbon credit trading, I-REC trading, renewable energy certificate markets, energy commodities, or environmental markets in India; direct exposure to registry platforms (Verra, Gold Standard, I-REC Standard) is a robust plus

- Skills: Understanding of India's voluntary carbon market, I-REC ecosystem, BEE PAT scheme, and emerging carbon market regulations; solid negotiation skills,



attention to detail in trade execution and settlement, and ability to manage multiple deals simultaneously

- Tools: Proficiency with Excel/Google Sheets for pricing and P&L;, CRM systems, and registry platforms; comfort with data analysis and trade reporting

- Bonus: Existing network of Indian carbon credit buyers, brokers, or RE developers; familiarity with BRSR reporting requirements driving corporate demand;
