Job Summary: The Application Security Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining security measures to protect our applications and data. This role involves conducting vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and both static and dynamic application security testing. The architect will work closely with development teams to ensure secure coding practices and mitigate risks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Vulnerability Assessment (VA):
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments to identify security weaknesses in applications and systems.
- Analyze and prioritize vulnerabilities based on risk and impact.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to remediate identified vulnerabilities.
- Penetration Testing (PT):
- Perform penetration testing on applications, networks, and systems to identify security gaps.
- Develop and execute test plans, document findings, and provide actionable recommendations.
- Simulate real-world attacks to evaluate the effectiveness of security controls.
- Static Application Security Testing (SAST):
- Implement and manage SAST tools to analyze source code for security vulnerabilities.
- Integrate SAST into the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
to ensure early detection of security issues.
- Provide guidance to developers on secure coding practices and remediation of identified issues.
- Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST):
- Conduct DAST to identify vulnerabilities in running applications.
- Analyze application behavior and interactions to detect security flaws.
- Work with development teams to address and fix identified vulnerabilities.
- Application Security Capabilities:
- Develop and implement application security architecture and strategies.
- Design and enforce security controls and best practices across the organization.
- Stay updated with the latest security trends, threats, and technologies.
- Provide training and guidance to development teams on secure coding practices.
- Respond to security incidents and perform root cause analysis.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
- Proven experience as an Application Security Architect or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of application security principles and practices.
- Experience with vulnerability assessment, penetration testing, SAST, and DAST tools and techniques.
- Familiarity with secure coding standards and frameworks.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH, OSCP) are a plus.
