We are looking for an Analyst/Senior Analyst with a strong understanding of the technical and policy aspects of energy storage and its applications in the energy and power sector. The candidate should be able to meet project deliverables and timelines and coordinate and communicate effectively with internal and external teams to achieve project objectives.

Responsibilities Conduct research and analysis on energy storage and its applications in electricity distribution networks.

Undertake research on the sizing and siting of energy storage in distribution networks.

Undertake economic analysis in the energy and power sector, including energy storage, renewable energy, electric mobility, and electricity transmission and distribution, to support policy decisions.

Conduct research on least-cost resource planning for different states, load flow, short-circuit, reliability, and contingency analysis for transmission and distribution networks.

Conduct power-system modelling and simulation studies using appropriate software and tools.

Develop financial and econometric models related to the energy and power sector.

Compile energy market data and analyse market trends, including demand, supply, and price projections.

Establish communication and coordinate with relevant stakeholders, including government, industry, and academia, for data and analysis related to the energy and power sector.

Document and publish research findings through detailed reports, journals, conferences, op-eds, and newsletters.

Qualifications and Experience MTech in Energy/Power or an equivalent degree in a related field; up to 6 years of relevant professional experience in energy and economic modelling and writing high-quality research reports, including white papers, journals, and policy briefs. Set Robust understanding of electricity distribution systems, renewable-energy integration, energy-storage applications, and emerging flexibility mechanisms such as virtual power plants (VPPs) is essential.

Expertise in load-flow, short-circuit, reliability, and contingency analysis, as well as distribution network modelling for energy storage, using relevant power-system software is required.

Experience in least-cost resource planning, power-system planning and simulation, power-flow analysis, forecasting, market penetration, cost-benefit and life-cycle cost analysis, and impact and consequence assessment in the power sector is desirable.

Willingness to undertake technical and policy research in the energy domain and prepare medium- to long-term energy sector outlook reports for various states is expected.

Experience working with generating companies, distribution utilities, renewable nodal agencies, regulatory commissions, ministries, and government bodies will be an advantage.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, is required.

Strong written and oral communication skills, with good interpersonal skills and the ability to express concepts and ideas clearly, are essential.

Ability to make effective and timely decisions and work effectively in a multi-functional team is expected.

Willingness to travel frequently to collect necessary data and discuss study findings is required.

Hands-on experience with power-system simulation and planning tools, particularly DIgSILENT PowerFactory, GridPath, PSCAD, and ETAP, will be preferred.

Experience with optimisation tools or solvers used for mixed-integer linear programming (MILP)-based modelling is desirable.

- Competence in Python, R, SAS, Tableau, SPSS, or similar software and statistical tools for developing economic models and deriving results will be an advantage. Duration 36 months
