Agentic AI Engineer

MantriAI is hiring for a consumer technology company building connected products and digital experiences for households. We are the search partner for this full-time engineering role.

The role

Your primary focus is to turn individual use of AI coding tools into shared engineering workflows that improve delivery speed and software quality. You will also ship backend services and build AI features that improve the customer experience.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role reporting to the founders and Head of Engineering. You will help engineers adopt new practices and take responsibility for the systems you build.

What you will do

- Build agents and automations across planning, coding, testing, debugging, code review, documentation, deployment and operations.
- Improve product-to-engineering handoffs. Give engineers and coding agents practical requirements, repository context and shared memory that stays current.
- Improve UI and design-to-code workflows. Supply clear design context and reusable components, inspect generated interfaces and fix gaps in both the workflow and its output.
- Build reliable backend services and APIs. Review AI-generated code for correctness, security, observability and maintainability before it reaches production.
- Create reusable playbooks and examples, coach engineers and track whether new workflows improve quality, adoption and delivery time.
- Evaluate AI tools and models for practical value. Prototype and ship product features such as personalised experiences and user assistance.

What we are looking for

- 3–6 years of software engineering experience with substantial production backend ownership.



Around 2–2.5 years or more of hands-on applied AI work, including recent work in a full-time engineering team and ongoing ownership of shipped systems.
- Strong Go or Python skills and sound engineering fundamentals: APIs, distributed systems, databases, queues, caching and production debugging.
- Deep use of Claude Code or Cursor in real software delivery, with examples of agentic workflows you built, improved and helped others use.
- Practical understanding of LLM capabilities and failure modes, model APIs, tool calling, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), evaluations and workflow orchestration.
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD and AWS and/or GCP.
- Ability to verify AI-generated code, solve UI workflow problems and explain technical trade-offs. You can influence engineers and connect technical choices to user and business outcomes.

Good to have

- Experience in a product or startup engineering team, especially one adopting shared AI development practices.
- Generative AI depth and experience building AI features for consumer-facing products.

Logistics

Location: HSR Layout, Bengaluru; five days a week from office.

Joining: Around 30 days preferred. Longer notice periods can be discussed.

Hiring process

MantriAI resume review, a 15–20-minute recruiter call and a 55-minute technical assessment. Shortlisted candidates then meet the founder for AI exploration, followed by two engineering lead rounds covering technical depth and coding, then system design.

For Bengaluru candidates, at least one client round will be in the office.
