Hospital Accountant – Position Summary A Hospital Accountant is responsible for managing the financial operations of a healthcare facility. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with healthcare regulations, budgeting, payroll processing, billing oversight, and financial analysis to support hospital management decisions.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare and maintain financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Oversee patient billing, insurance claims, and reimbursement processes
- Monitor hospital revenue cycles and ensure timely collections
- Prepare budgets and assist department heads with financial planning
- Conduct financial audits and ensure compliance with healthcare laws and regulations
- Process payroll and manage employee compensation records
- Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts
- Maintain accurate financial records in accounting systems
- Assist in cost analysis and financial forecasting




- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and reporting requirements

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification preferred
- 2–5 years of accounting experience (healthcare experience preferred)
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations
- Familiarity with healthcare billing systems and insurance procedures
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
