Description

A full-stack engineer with expert, delivery-owning depth in Java, who acts as a technical leader across the platform. Supports the team by independently handling small- to medium-complexity work in three secondary areas — React front-end, DevSecOps, and Test Automation — using AI/Agentic AI tools to extend breadth without needing deep specialisation in each.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop scalable Spring Boot microservices, APIs, and event-driven solutions.
- Act as the platform-wide technical leader for Java engineering — set standards, review designs, and coach engineers across teams.
- React (secondary, AI-assisted): Build and maintain React components and screens for small–medium features, integrating with back-end APIs.
- DevSecOps (secondary, AI-assisted): Work with Git workflows and CI/CD pipelines; use containers (Docker/Kubernetes) and follow security and quality gates in the pipeline.
- Test Automation (secondary, AI-assisted): Write and extend UI and API automated tests and integrate them into CI/CD; apply TDD basics.
- Use AI/Agentic AI tools to deliver competently across secondary areas and accelerate primary Java delivery.
- Embed quality early (shift-left) and own delivery end-to-end from design through release.

Required Skills & Experience

- Java (expert): Strong Java fundamentals (Java 17+ desirable) and Spring Boot microservices; SQL and persistence (JPA/Hibernate); Kafka and containers (Docker,



Kubernetes); REST API design and messaging; performance tuning; TDD; on-prem and cloud delivery. Valuable-to-have: AWS, Terraform.
- React (working): Comfortable building React components with hooks and state; solid JavaScript, HTML, and CSS; API integration.
- DevSecOps (working): Familiar with Git and CI/CD (e.g. GitLab); Docker/Kubernetes basics; awareness of pipeline security and quality gates; some scripting (Bash/Python).
- Test Automation (working): Able to write UI (Cypress/Playwright) and API (Rest Assured/Karate) tests and wire them into CI/CD.
- Credible technical leader who influences and coaches across teams; comfortable using AI tools to work beyond core expertise.
