Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Appian Infrastructure / Platform Engineer to support the migration of Amex existing self-managed Appian platform from a traditional server-based installation to a Kubernetes-based deployment model.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience administering self-managed Appian environments and a solid understanding of Kubernetes/container platforms. This individual will work closely with Amex Appian, Enterprise Technology, Infrastructure, Database, Network, and Security teams to plan, implement, test, and stabilize the recent Kubernetes-based Appian platform.

Key Responsibilities

Support the end-to-end migration of Appian from traditional server-based infrastructure to Kubernetes.

Assess the existing Appian architecture, configuration, integrations, storage, networking, and dependencies.

Design and implement the target Kubernetes architecture in accordance with Appian's supported deployment model and enterprise standards.

Install, configure, upgrade, patch, troubleshoot, and administer self-managed Appian environments.

Configure and validate Kubernetes components required to operate Appian reliably, including compute, persistent storage, networking, ingress/load balancing, secrets, and certificates.

Develop and execute migration plans across Development, QA, Production, and Disaster Recovery/Failover environments.

Support migration of Appian configuration, application dependencies, data, documents, and other required platform components.

Perform platform validation, performance testing, failover/recovery testing,



and production-readiness activities.

Troubleshoot Appian, Kubernetes, Linux, networking, database, and infrastructure issues during migration.

Work with security and infrastructure teams to ensure the target platform meets enterprise security, resiliency, monitoring, backup, and disaster recovery requirements.

Develop operational documentation, runbooks, deployment procedures, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge-transfer materials.

Provide hands-on support during production migration and post-migration stabilization.

- Desired skills : The ideal candidate is not primarily an Appian application developer. The candidate should have deep Appian platform/infrastructure engineering experience who understands how Appian operates at the system level and can help successfully transition an existing enterprise Appian installation to a Kubernetes-based architecture.Experience completing a production Appian migration from a traditional self-managed installation to Kubernetes would be highly desirable.
