About the Role

As a Specialty Underwriting & Tools Analyst, you will support the development, enhancement, and deployment of underwriting tools and processes within the Specialty Transformation team. You'll work closely with underwriters and technical teams globally, contributing to costing, analytics, and tool-related initiatives that directly impact how specialty risks are evaluated and managed. This is a role for someone who is comfortable bridging the gap between underwriting knowledge and technical tooling - and who is excited to grow in both areas.

Key Responsibilities

- Support the development, enhancement, and rollout of Specialty underwriting and costing tools in collaboration with underwriting, actuarial, product, and delivery teams

- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to support process improvements across Specialty underwriting, pricing, data, and tools

- Support user testing, feedback collection, and adoption of tool changes, ensuring that enhancements are practical and aligned with underwriting needs

- Use dashboards, reports, and data outputs to help underwriters interpret portfolio and deal-level information for decision-making

- Document tool functionality, business rules, process steps, and user guidance in a transparent and structured way

- Build a strong understanding of Specialty lines, underwriting workflows, and reinsurance structures over time

About the Team





The Specialty Transformation team owns the strategic roadmap and change management of Specialty tools, data, and underwriting processes, which includes both Facultative and Treaty business. It drives the Specialty data and tech strategy and is responsible for the adaptation oftools and data services within Specialty. As the dedicated Specialty team in Bangalore, the Specialty Transformation Bangalore team supports underwriting, tool development, and actuarial tasks. We work closely with underwriting teams and partnering functions, including the Product &Delivery; Team, UW Excellence, and UW Transformation. The team is part of the Specialty Centre, enabling the Global Specialty Market Unit according to the Centre mandate of build, advise, steer.

About You

You are a versatile professional who is comfortable working across underwriting and technical domains. You bring a collaborative spirit, a problem-solving mindset, and a genuine curiosity about how tools and data can improve underwriting decisions. Whether your background leans more towards underwriting or towards tools and analytics, you're eager to broaden your expertise and contribute to a team that is driving meaningful change in specialty reinsurance.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

- University degree in the field of natural science or a quantitative field which is closely related to these subject areas - Statistics, Engineering, Actuarial Science.

- Background in insurance, reinsurance, underwriting support, analytics, tools, or a related field minimum experience of 1 - 3 years




- Inclination to pursue an actuarial qualification (e.g., IFOA, CAS, IAI or equivalent) - exam progress is not a prerequisite

- Ability to understand business processes and translate user needs into structured requirements, documentation, or analytical outputs

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to connect data, tools, and practical business questions

- Comfortable working with tools, dashboards, Excel, or analytical platforms prior experience with underwriting or pricing tools is a plus

- Clear communication skills and ability to work with both business and technical stakeholders

- Curiosity to learn Specialty reinsurance and develop either in an underwriting-tools, analytics, or business transformation direction

These are additional nice to haves:

- Familiarity with Specialty lines such as Marine, Aviation, Engineering, Agriculture, Cyber, or similar

- Experience with user acceptance testing, tool rollouts, process documentation, or change support

- Exposure to insurance or reinsurance underwriting workflows or pricing/costing processes

- Experience with BI or visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau

- Basic familiarity with Python, R, SQL, or other analytical or programming tools

- Experience working in global, cross-functional, or multicultural teams

Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office atleast three days per week.
