Job Summary

The Technical Lead Retail POS Systems provides technical leadership for our retail POS implementation, owning the design, customization, and delivery of the POS codebase. In addition to hands-on development, the Lead sets technical direction, defines standards, mentors the development team, and is accountable for the quality, performance, and timely delivery of POS solutions.

Core Responsibilities

- Lead the technical design and architecture of POS customizations and integrations across the enterprise.

- Own the development roadmap and delivery for the POS codebase, estimating effort and managing technical scope.

- Mentor and guide developers, conducting code reviews and enforcing coding standards and best practices.

- Design and oversee API integrations connecting the POS to backend ERP, CRM, and payment gateway systems.

- Define customization strategy for branding, localized tax rules, and complex business workflows.

- Establish and govern source control, build, testing, and deployment processes across environments.

- Coordinate with business stakeholders, vendors, and cross-functional teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.

- Resolve escalated defects and performance issues, and drive root-cause analysis for production incidents.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.

- 5 6 years of software development experience,



including significant hands-on POS or enterprise application development.

- Proven experience leading developers or owning technical delivery on a POS or enterprise platform.

- Expert proficiency in Java, SQL, and XML, with robust relational database skills.

- Deep experience designing API/web service integrations (REST/SOAP) to ERP, CRM, and payment systems.

- Strong command of version control (Git), including repository setup, branching strategies, and pull request workflows.

- Proven experience designing and owning CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or similar) across multiple environments.

- Working knowledge of at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP) - architecting, deploying, and operating cloud-hosted services.

- Excellent communication skills to work across technical and business stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience leading one or more full POS implementations or upgrades end-to-end.

- Solid understanding of retail POS architecture: tender, tax engines, promotions, returns, and inventory.

- Experience with Oracle Retail (Xstore, RMS, ORCE) or other enterprise retail suites.

- Oracle Xstore certification or completion of Oracle Retail training modules.

- Experience with Oracle WebLogic Server - deployment, domain configuration, tuning, and administration in a retail or enterprise context.

- Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, or similar - able to leverage AI tooling to accelerate development, code review, and technical documentation.

- Vendor and offshore team coordination experience.
