Job Summary

As part of our retail POS implementation and ongoing store systems program, the Software Engineer Retail POS Systems is responsible for developing, customizing, and maintaining the point-of-sale codebase. The role works within a multi-functional development team to deliver configured and extended POS functionality that meets business, branding, and regulatory requirements across our store estate.

Core Responsibilities

- Customize POS applications to align with company branding, localized tax rules, and unique business workflows.

- Develop and design API integrations connecting the POS to backend ERP, CRM, and payment gateway systems.

- Configure and extend POS modules (registers, tender, pricing, promotions, returns) to meet store and enterprise requirements.

- Fix bugs, conduct unit testing, and develop technical specifications for recent POS functions.

- Build and maintain database objects and queries supporting the POS platform.

- Participate in code reviews, source control, and deployment of POS builds across test and production environments.

- Support QA, UAT, and store rollout activities, troubleshooting defects through to resolution.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering,



or related field, or equivalent experience.

- 2 3 years of software development experience; experience on a retail POS platform strongly preferred.

- Proficiency in Java, SQL, and XML.

- Experience with relational databases and writing performant queries.

- Experience developing API/web service integrations (REST/SOAP) to ERP, CRM, or payment systems.

- Experience with version control (Git), including branching, pull requests, and repository setup.

- Hands-on experience setting up and working within CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or similar).

- Working knowledge of at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP) - deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting cloud-hosted services.

Preferred Qualifications

- Prior experience on a full POS implementation or upgrade.

- Knowledge of retail POS concepts: tender types, tax engines, promotions, and inventory.

- Experience with Oracle Retail, Xstore, or other enterprise retail platforms.

- Oracle Xstore certification or completion of Oracle Retail training modules.

- Familiarity with Oracle WebLogic Server - deployment, configuration, and basic administration.

- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, or similar - able to leverage AI tooling to accelerate coding, code review, and documentation tasks.
