Description

To be part of the Planning and Mobility team and support the wider WSP business by delivering traffic engineering and modelling services. The role will work collaboratively with other disciplines to contribute to project outcomes that are client-focused and consider all modes of movement. The position will support the delivery of traffic engineering projects, including traffic analysis, intersection and network modelling, traffic impact assessments, concept design, access strategies, and road safety investigations under the guidance of senior staff.

Responsibilities

Main Activities and Responsibilities: (including but not limited to)

- Undertake traffic engineering analysis and assist in interpreting results.

- Prepare technical reports, figures, and engineering drawings under supervision.

- Assist with traffic impact assessments and transport studies.

- Undertake traffic modelling and analysis using appropriate software tools.

- Assist in the development of intersection and active transport concept designs.

- Support crash analysis and road safety investigations.

- Assist in data collection, validation, and analysis.

- Prepare plans, presentations, and project documentation.

- Liaise with internal disciplines to obtain project inputs and support project delivery.

- Develop effective time management skills to manage assigned tasks and project deliverables.

- Build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and clients.

- Participate in company training and professional development initiatives.

- Seek information to understand client requirements and project objectives.





- Assist in reviewing engineering drawings, reports, and technical documentation.

- Contribute to the preparation of fee proposals and submissions.

- Undertake quality assurance activities in accordance with the WSP Quality System.

- Comply with all role-specific SHEQ obligations and incorporate these requirements into project work.

- Undertake other project-related tasks as directed by the Team Lead.

Qualifications

- Minimum - Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Transport, or equivalent).
- Desirable - Master's degree in Engineering, Transport Planning, or a related field.

Experience, skills and organisational knowledge

- 2 to 5 years of relevant traffic or transport engineering experience.
- Understanding of traffic engineering principles and practices.
- Experience undertaking traffic engineering analysis and assessments.
- Proficiency in traffic modelling and traffic impact assessment methodologies.
- Ability to independently prepare technical reports, figures, and supporting documentation.
- Experience delivering traffic modelling, traffic impact assessments, and transport planning studies.




- Understanding of road safety principles and intersection design.Ability to apply engineering judgement to solve technical problems and interpret results.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Ability to contribute to proposals and project delivery activities.
- Commitment to continuous learning and development of technical expertise.
- Demonstrated proficiency in relevant traffic engineering software, including SIDRA, LinSig, AutoCAD, and AutoTURN. Experience with GIS, Aimsun, or VISSIM is desirable.
