To inspect garments during and after the sewing process, identify defects, ensure workmanship meets quality standards, and prevent defective garments from moving to the next production stage.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect sewn garments for stitching and workmanship defects.
- Check seams, stitches, thread tension, SPI, seam allowance, and construction as per specifications.
- Identify defects such as:
- Open seams
- Broken or skipped stitches
- Uneven stitching
- Loose threads
- Puckering
- Wrong attachment
- Needle holes
- Uneven hems
- Measurement deviations
- Stains and other workmanship defects
- Compare garments with approved samples, tech packs, specifications, and quality standards.
- Conduct inline and end-line inspection as required.
- Segregate defective garments and ensure they are sent for correction/rework.
- Communicate quality problems to sewing operators, supervisors, and the QC team.
- Maintain inspection records and defect reports.
- Monitor recurring defects and report them to the Quality Supervisor.
- Ensure corrected garments are rechecked before passing them to the next process.
- Follow factory quality procedures, safety requirements, and production guidelines.
- Support the quality team in reducing rejection and rework.
Required Skills
- Basic knowledge of garment construction and sewing operations.

- Knowledge of garment measurements and specifications.
- Valuable observation and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate defects clearly to operators and supervisors.
- Basic documentation and reporting skills.
- Ability to work under production targets and deadlines.
Qualification & Experience
- Minimum 10th/12th standard or equivalent; garment-related training is an advantage.
- Previous experience in garment quality checking is preferred.
- Freshers with basic garment/sewing knowledge may also be considered.
