The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated Technical Manager with strong experience in private cloud infrastructure and cloud computing to join our team. As a Technical Manager, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and delivering complex private cloud and infrastructure transformation initiatives within scope, timeline, and budget. You will work with cross-functional engineering, operations, security, network, storage, and application teams to identify requirements, design solutions, and implement highly available cloud platforms.

In this role, you will play a key part in the delivery and operational readiness of enterprise private cloud programs, with particular focus on VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), VMware virtualization, container platforms, Docker and Kubernetes. The role aligns business, engineering, operations, vendors, and technology teams to deliver secure, scalable, resilient, and supportable infrastructure services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Collaborate with stakeholders to define project requirements, scope, objectives, technical dependencies, and success criteria.
- Develop project plans and schedules, track progress, and report status to stakeholders.
- Manage project risks, issues, dependencies, capacity constraints, and technical blockers, and drive corrective actions as needed.
- Work with cross-functional teams to design, develop, implement, migrate, and operationalize private cloud and hybrid cloud solutions.
- Provide technical leadership for VMware-based private cloud environments, including VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), vSphere/ESXi, vCenter, NSX, vSAN, and related infrastructure components.
- Coordinate deployment and lifecycle management of containerized platforms and workloads using Docker and Kubernetes, including platform upgrades, cluster readiness, availability, and integration dependencies.
- Partner with infrastructure, network, storage, security, DevOps/SRE, and application teams to ensure end-to-end solution readiness.
- Support private cloud platform modernization, migrations, upgrades, patching, lifecycle management, capacity planning, and infrastructure automation initiatives.
- Ensure project deliverables meet architecture, security, operational, quality, and performance standards and are delivered on time and within budget.
- Develop and maintain project documentation, including project charters, technical plans, status reports, architecture/dependency diagrams, RAID logs, change requests, and operational handover documentation.
- Communicate project status, technical risks, issues, and dependencies to stakeholders, including executive leadership.
- Facilitate project kickoffs, technical workshops, architecture reviews, status meetings, change reviews, and retrospectives.
- Ensure adherence to project management, change management, security, infrastructure, and operational best practices, methodologies, and standards.




- Coach and mentor team members and coordinate technical teams through planning, implementation, testing, migration, production rollout, and stabilization.
- Ensure timely completion through all phases from planning and execution through production deployment and operational handover. Take the lead on quantifying and tracking quality and service-readiness issues.
- Lead knowledge transfer and end-user/operations training efforts during current platform or system handover.
- Lead technical team members for large enterprise infrastructure and private cloud deployments.
- Apply SDLC, infrastructure lifecycle, DevOps, and change/release management principles where applicable.
- Measure project and platform delivery performance using appropriate tools, metrics, and techniques.
- Report and escalate to management as needed and plan/adjust delivery based on constraints and dependencies.
- Develop spreadsheets, diagrams, process maps, dashboards, and technical documentation to capture requirements and delivery needs.

Requirements

- 10+ years of proven experience in technical project/program management, infrastructure delivery, cloud engineering, or related technical leadership roles.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
- Strong knowledge on enterprise private cloud and virtualization technologies, particularly VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), VMware vSphere/ESXi, vCenter, NSX, and vSAN.
- Hands-on or strong knowledge of container technologies and orchestration platforms, including Docker and Kubernetes.
- Good understanding of private cloud architecture across compute, virtualization, networking, storage, backup/recovery, security, monitoring, and automation.
- Experience managing infrastructure migrations, platform upgrades, patching, lifecycle management, capacity planning, disaster recovery, and production cutovers.
- Deep knowledge with automation and Infrastructure as Code concepts/tools such as Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, or equivalent is strongly preferred.
- Good knowledge of Linux and Windows infrastructure, networking concepts, load balancing, DNS, firewalls, storage, and enterprise security controls.
- Experience with public/hybrid cloud services such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is desirable, particularly where integrated with private cloud environments.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies such as Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid, along with change and release management practices.
- Solid leadership, communication, stakeholder management, vendor coordination, and problem-solving skills.




- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced enterprise environment.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and project management/collaboration software including MS Project or equivalent, Jira, and Confluence.
- PMP, Certified Scrum Master, VMware/VCF, Kubernetes (CKA/CKAD), or relevant cloud/infrastructure certification is a plus.

The Ideal Person

- Private Cloud & VCF Expertise: The ideal candidate should have strong experience with enterprise private cloud platforms, particularly VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) and the VMware ecosystem. They should understand deployment, configuration, lifecycle management, upgrades, availability, capacity, networking, storage, and operational considerations for large-scale virtualized environments.
- Containers & Kubernetes: The candidate should understand containerized infrastructure and application platforms, including Docker and Kubernetes. They should be comfortable coordinating Kubernetes cluster deployments, upgrades, platform dependencies, availability, security, monitoring, and production readiness.
- Technical Management: The candidate should have a strong technical delivery background with experience leading complex infrastructure and private cloud programs from inception through production deployment and operational handover. They should be able to challenge technical assumptions, identify dependencies, and drive engineering teams toward resolution.
- Project Management: The candidate should have a strong project management background and be familiar with Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid methodologies, tailoring the approach based on the program's technical and operational requirements.
- Communication and Leadership: The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication and leadership skills. They should be able to communicate project status, technical risks, issues, and decisions to stakeholders at various levels, including executive leadership, and drive cross-functional teams toward a common goal.
- Technical Acumen: The candidate should have a strong infrastructure background with knowledge of virtualization, compute, networking, storage, Linux/Windows, security, automation, monitoring, backup/recovery, IaaS/PaaS, containers, and hybrid cloud integration.
- Problem-Solving: The candidate should have a strong problem-solving mindset and be able to think critically to overcome technical and delivery roadblocks, proactively identify and mitigate risks, and drive resolution of complex infrastructure issues.
- Adaptability: The ideal candidate should be adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. They should be comfortable with ambiguity and able to adjust to changing requirements, priorities, and production needs.
- Certification: PMP or other project management certification is a plus. VMware/VCF, Kubernetes, Red Hat, or public cloud certifications are also highly desirable.
