Role Description The UAV Research and Development Lead is a full-time, on-site role based in Pune City. This role is responsible for leading the end-to-end R&D; lifecycle for FPV and industrial UAV platforms, including concept development, prototyping, testing, and iterative improvement. Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and optimizing airframes and propulsion systems, integrating flight controllers, sensors, and communication modules, and overseeing hardware and software integration for reliable performance.

The role involves managing test flights, analyzing flight data, refining control algorithms, and ensuring safety, compliance, and documentation standards are met.



The UAV R&D; Lead will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor junior engineers, coordinate with operations and client-facing teams, and contribute to technical roadmaps, innovation initiatives, and custom solutions for key projects.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess strong UAV and aeronautical engineering skills, including drone design, FPV systems, propulsion, airframe optimization, and flight performance tuning.
- Candidates should possess hardware and electronics skills such as PCB-level understanding, sensor integration, power management, RF/telemetry systems, and troubleshooting embedded hardware.
- Candidates should possess embedded systems and software skills, including experience with flight controllers, firmware configuration, control algorithms, and scripting or programming for automation and data analysis.
- Candidates should possess testing and validation skills, with experience in flight testing, safety protocols, failure analysis, performance benchmarking, and documentation of test results.
- Candidates should possess project leadership and collaboration skills, including leading technical teams, mentoring engineers, planning R&D; roadmaps, and coordinating with operations or client stakeholders.
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in aerospace engineering, robotics, electronics, mechatronics, or a related technical field is preferred.
- Prior experience in UAV/RPAS development, FPV racing or cinematic drones, or industrial drone applications is highly beneficial.
