The role will fit in an experienced SAP SuccessFactors Custom Development Lead to lead the design, development, extensibility, testing, deployment, and support of custom solutions across the SuccessFactors landscape for a global-template-based rollout.

The role will be responsible for translating approved business requirements into scalable, maintainable, and upgrade-compatible SuccessFactors solutions, while maximizing the use of standard SAP functionality and adhering to the program's clean-core and extensibility principles.

The consultant will work across the SuccessFactors platform, including Employee Central, Employee Central Payroll, Time Management, MDF, Business Rules, Workflows, Role-Based Permissions, APIs, Integration Center, and SAP BTP-based extensions.

Experience

- 10+ years of SAP technical experience, with significant experience in SAP SuccessFactors development and extensibility.
- Minimum 7+ years of hands-on SuccessFactors custom development / technical experience.
- Experience in at least 3 end-to-end SAP SuccessFactors implementations or global rollouts.
- Extensive experience with MDF, Business Rules, Workflows, Configurable UI, APIs, Integration Center, and SuccessFactors extensibility.
- Experience with SAP BTP-based extensions is highly desirable.
- Experience taking custom requirements through the complete lifecycle from assessment and technical design through build, testing, deployment, and hypercare.

- Own the SuccessFactors custom development and extensibility workstream.
- Review business requirements and determine the most appropriate solution approach:
- Standard SAP functionality
- Configuration
- Business Rules
- MDF
- Workflow

- BTP extension
- Define technical standards for custom development and extensibility.
- Ensure all custom development remains aligned with clean-core and upgradeability objectives.
- Work with the Global Template and Functional teams to identify requirements that cannot be addressed through standard functionality.
- Determine whether requirements should be implemented as:
- Global reusable extensions
- Country-specific extensions
- Entity-specific extensions
- Design extensions that support multiple legal entities wherever practical.
- Maintain a custom-development inventory covering global,



local, and entity-specific extensions.
- Ensure all custom requirements are formally approved, documented, and traceable to the underlying business requirement.
- Lead the design and implementation of custom MDF objects.

- Design and implement complex SuccessFactors Business Rules.
- Design and configure workflows associated with employee and organizational processes.
- Analyze rule dependencies and avoid conflicting or redundant rules.
- Perform technical troubleshooting of rule execution issues.
- Establish standards for rule naming, documentation, testing, and maintenance.
- Design and implement supported UI extensions and configurable UI changes.

- Ensure extensions remain consistent with the standard SuccessFactors user experience.
- Avoid unsupported modifications that may create upgrade or maintenance risks.

- Identify requirements that should be implemented outside the SuccessFactors application.
- Design and develop BTP-based extensions where justified.
- Work with SAP BTP architects/developers on:

- Application lifecycle
- Ensure BTP extensions are loosely coupled and follow the approved enterprise architecture.
- Avoid tightly coupling extensions to unsupported SuccessFactors internals.
- Define security considerations for custom functionality.
- Ensure appropriate Role-Based Permissions (RBP) are configured for:
- MDF objects
- Custom fields
- Workflows
- APIs
- Integrations
- Administrative functions
- Review all custom-development requests for technical feasibility and architectural alignment.




- Maintain a development backlog and prioritize work based on project milestones.
- Review technical designs and development estimates.
- Ensure development standards are consistently followed.
- Provide technical status reporting to project leadership.
- Coordinate development testing with the Test Manager.
- Ensure appropriate coverage across:
- Unit Testing
- SIT
- End-to-End Testing
- UAT
- Prepare technical test scenarios and expected results.
- Ensure custom functionality is incorporated into relevant end-to-end processes.
- Analyze and resolve defects.
- Support production validation following deployment.
- Assess the potential impact of SuccessFactors releases on custom functionality.
- Maintain an inventory of custom objects, rules, workflows, integrations, and extensions.
- Identify extensions requiring regression testing after SAP releases.
- Coordinate release impact analysis with functional and integration teams.
- Ensure changes follow approved release and change-control processes.
- Maintain appropriate technical documentation and version history.
- Provide technical leadership for custom-development activities during cutover.
- Coordinate deployment of custom – development.
- Prepare deployment sequencing and production validation activities.
- Support mock cutover and deployment rehearsals.
- Coordinate production smoke testing.
- Validate critical custom functionality immediately following Go-Live.
- Support hypercare stabilization and defect resolution.
