Responsibilities

- A PACS Administrator typically owns or provides higher-level support for the PACS/RIS imaging setting. Common responsibilities include:
- Administering and supporting PACS, RIS, image viewers, and related imaging applications.
- Managing users, access, permissions, worklists, and system configurations.
- Troubleshooting image-routing, image-availability, study-matching, and workflow issues.
- Investigating DICOM connectivity and image-transfer problems.
- Supporting interfaces between PACS/RIS and other systems, including HL7 workflows.
- Troubleshooting modality connectivity involving CT, MRI, X-ray, ultrasound, mammography, etc.
- Resolving escalated Tier 2/Tier 3 tickets from radiologists, technologists, schedulers, and other users.
- Working with vendors and internal IT teams when issues require deeper technical investigation.
- Monitoring queues, system performance, failed transmissions, interfaces, and application availability.
- Performing or coordinating upgrades, testing, configuration changes, and implementation activities.
- Documenting incidents, root causes,



resolutions, and recurring system issues.
- Potentially supporting after-hours/on-call escalation for critical imaging-system outages.
- Typical profile: Someone with prior PACS/RIS administration or healthcare IT experience and working knowledge of DICOM, HL7, imaging workflows, ticketing systems, and radiology operations.
- Intelerad experience is a requirement and Candelis and Laurel Bridge preferred but not required

Required Skills

- Associate or bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent
- Experience 3+ years supporting PACS, imaging informatics, healthcare IT, or radiology
- Systems Experience with major PACS vendors Experience supporting DICOM, HL7, and
- healthcare integrations Knowledge of PACS, RIS, VNA, DICOM, HL7, and imaging workflows
- Knowledge of healthcare IT infrastructure and cybersecurity Excellent troubleshooting and
- Communication skills Knowledge of HIPAA requirements.
