Role Title: Software Engineer

Position Summary:

Marriott International is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Hotel Websites (HWS) team within IT Application Development. This role contributes to the development of responsive, accessible, and high-performing web experiences. The engineer will collaborate with developers, designers, quality engineers, and product team members to build user-facing features, integrate backend services, resolve issues, and continuously develop front-end engineering expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and maintain web features using JavaScript, HTML, CSS, TypeScript, and modern front-end frameworks.
- Build and maintain reusable user interface components with guidance from experienced engineers.
- Translate approved designs and requirements into responsive, accessible, and user-friendly web experiences.
- Integrate front-end applications with REST APIs and backend services.
- Write readable, maintainable code and follow established coding, security,



testing, and documentation standards.
- Develop and maintain automated unit, integration, and component tests.
- Investigate defects, troubleshoot application issues, and implement fixes with support from the team.
- Participate in code reviews and apply feedback to improve code quality and maintainability.
- Collaborate with developers, designers, quality engineers, product owners, and DevOps team members.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.
- Support cross-browser compatibility, mobile responsiveness, performance optimization, and accessibility improvements.
- Contribute to technical documentation and team knowledge sharing.
- Learn and apply new technologies and engineering practices relevant to the team.
- Demonstrate ownership of assigned work, proactively communicate risks and blockers, and contribute to a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications:

- 2+ years of professional software engineering experience in front-end development.
- Hands-on experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, responsive web development principles, and browser-based applications.
- Hands-on experience with TypeScript and up-to-date front-end frameworks such as React.js and/or Next.js.
- Experience integrating front-end applications with REST APIs and backend services.
- Experience with Git-based development workflows.
- Understanding responsive design, accessibility standards, and web usability best practices.
- Understanding of Core Web Vitals and front-end performance optimization techniques.
- Understanding of source control, debugging, testing, and software development practices.




- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
- Ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

- Familiarity with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, asynchronous data handling, and error handling.
- Experience with testing tools such as Jest, Cypress, Playwright, or similar front-end testing frameworks.
- Familiarity with Git, GitHub, and CI/CD concepts or tools such as Jenkins or Harness.
- Exposure to cloud platforms, Docker, server-side rendering (SSR), or application monitoring.
- Understanding of Agile practices and tools such as Jira or Confluence.
- Familiarity with content management systems such as Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) or similar platforms.
- Experience with accessibility testing, cross-browser testing, and web performance analysis tools.
- Exposure to personalization, content targeting, or dynamic rendering in web applications.

- Produces reliable, maintainable, and understandable code that follows team standards.

Education and Certifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical field or equivalent experience/certification
