Seito builds the AI operating system for education. Universities use our platform to run admissions, learning, examinations, partner channels, support and finance — serving students through the full lifecycle from first enquiry to graduation. We support university partners across India through a portfolio of platform systems and AI-native products.

The Role

As a Software Engineer II, you will own backend services and web interfaces across Seito's product portfolio — from schema design and APIs through deployment, AI feature integration, and ongoing operation. This is a backend-heavy, full-stack role in an active 0-to-1 build phase.

Responsibilities

- Design and implement backend services in Python, Go, or TypeScript, including REST APIs, event consumers, and scheduled workloads.

- Build and maintain web interfaces in Next.js and React, integrated with the services behind them.

- Model and evolve relational schemas and deliver migrations that execute safely against live production data.

- Build event-driven pipelines on Apache Kafka, applying idempotency, retry semantics, and reconciliation.

- Develop AI-native features including LLM tool-calling flows, retrieval and grounding, and evaluation harnesses.

- Automate build and release pipelines, deploying to Google Kubernetes Engine via GitLab CI and Argo CD.

- Integrate with third-party systems including payment gateways, lending partners, and CRM platforms.

- Participate in design and code review and contribute to engineering standards and technical documentation.

Must-Have Requirements

- Proficiency in at least one backend language in production — Python, Go,



or TypeScript (Java as primary is not applicable to the current stack).

- Working knowledge of React or an equivalent frontend component framework; open to owning both backend and frontend work.

- AI/LLM exposure in a real project — RAG pipelines, evaluation harnesses, tool-calling flows, or similar applied AI work.

- CI/CD pipeline experience — build automation and release management using GitLab CI or equivalent tooling.

Positive to Have

- Go as primary backend language.

- Next.js experience for frontend development.

- Apache Kafka or equivalent event-driven architecture in production, including failure handling and replay.

- Kubernetes operations — deploying, monitoring, and troubleshooting containerised services on GKE.

- Relational database ownership — schema design, indexing, transaction isolation, and zero-downtime migrations.

- Terraform and infrastructure as code on Google Cloud Platform.

- ClickHouse, Apache Spark, Elasticsearch, or vector databases.

- Django, Django REST Framework, or FastAPI exposure.

- Hands-on experience with Anthropic Claude or OpenAI SDKs.

- Background in edtech, fintech, or another regulated, transaction-heavy domain.

- Open source contributions.
