Role Title: Senior Engineering Manager, Platform Engineering

Position Summary:

The Senior Engineering Manager provides strategic and technical leadership for the development and evolution of enterprise platform capabilities that enable scalable, secure, and high-quality software delivery. This role drives engineering excellence, technology innovation, and modernization initiatives, establishes engineering standards and best practices, and collaborates with architects and engineering leaders to deliver impactful solutions. As a key technical decision-maker, the Senior Engineering Manager fosters a culture of continuous improvement, accelerates developer productivity, and ensures the successful execution of complex cross-functional initiatives.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

Technical Leadership:

- Mentor and develop team members; provide technical consultation.
- Participate in architecture/design discussions and Architecture Review Board activities.
- Ensure code quality, secure coding, engineering best practices, and AI engineering standards.
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis to improve service delivery.

Delivery Excellence:

- Ensure service providers meet project deliverables, requirements, and service levels.
- Validate requirements and business cases before solutioning.
- Coordinate with IT, vendors, Operations, and Infrastructure for delivery and production support.
- Escalate risks and service issues proactively to stakeholders.

IT Governance:

- Adhere to IT governance, architecture, service management, and project management standards.
- Balance business and operational risks.
- Monitor service provider plans, schedules, deliverables, metrics, and outcomes.




- Recommend improvements to governance processes.

Team & Stakeholder Management:

- Manage application development projects with IT teams, business partners, and service providers.
- Lead project reviews, reporting, planning, issue resolution, and service delivery.
- Support IT strategy, governance, budgeting, estimation, and planning.
- Maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Continuous Improvement:

- Drive CMMI or similar metrics and continuous improvement practices.
- Measure quality, consistency, service delivery, and client satisfaction.
- Identify and implement process improvements.

Skill and Experience:

- 10+ years of engineering leadership experience in platform, application, and enterprise software development.
- Strong expertise in software architecture, systems integration, and large-scale distributed system design.
- Deep understanding of cloud-native architectures, microservices, APIs, and event-driven platforms.
- Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, NoSQL databases, containers, Kubernetes, and public cloud platforms.
- Proven experience designing and operating highly scalable, resilient, secure, and production-ready platforms.
- Strong knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, automation, observability, monitoring, and performance engineering.
- Experience leading platform modernization and enterprise technology transformation initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to define engineering standards, governance frameworks, and development best practices.
- Strong understanding of AI-enabled engineering practices and leveraging emerging technologies to improve developer productivity.
- Experience managing cross-functional, distributed, vendor, and matrixed engineering teams.
- Proven success delivering complex, multi-team programs in Agile and product-centric environments.
- Expertise in API management, integration platforms, service orchestration, and enterprise connectivity patterns.
- Strong understanding of networking, infrastructure, security, and full-stack platform ecosystems.
- Experience driving release management, deployment automation, quality engineering, and operational excellence.
- Ability to influence technology strategy and serve as a trusted advisor to engineering and business leaders.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, negotiation, and decision-making capabilities.
- Experience balancing technology investments, delivery priorities, operational risk, and business outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to build high-performing engineering teams through mentoring, coaching, and talent development.
- Expertise in evaluating emerging technologies and driving continuous improvement across engineering organizations.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into measurable business value.

Education and Certifications:

- Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience/certification
