You’ll lead hands-on scalability and performance work with the CTO and engineering team. Design, code, profile and safely roll out improvements while coaching engineers and raising review quality. This is a technical leadership role, not a coordination-only management position.

What You'll Do

- Lead scalability and performance initiatives with the CTO and engineering team.
- Scale high-throughput ingestion, asynchronous processing and low-latency APIs.
- Use profiling and realistic load tests to identify and resolve bottlenecks.
- Build dependable processing with retries, idempotency, backpressure and safe recovery.
- Improve database queries, indexing, caching, service performance and cloud costs.
- Lead design and code reviews covering concurrency, correctness, security, observability and testing.
- Own capacity planning, performance metrics, rollout plans and rollback strategies.
- Mentor engineers while remaining hands-on with production systems and coding.

Must have 4–7 years of backend engineering experience with scalable, high-performance production systems.

Prior Backend

Lead, Tech Lead, Lead Engineer or equivalent experience leading backend engineers.



Hands-on production depth in Python, Go or Rust. Strong hands-on cloud experience — GCP preferred, AWS relevant.

Experience with high-throughput processing, asynchronous systems and low-latency APIs. Strong understanding of queues, databases, caching, consistency, concurrency and failure recovery.

Experience with profiling, load testing, observability, security and cloud cost optimisation. Strong academic pedigree from IITs, BITS Pilani, IIIT Hyderabad, leading NITs or comparable selective institutions.

Good to have

Experience with audio or AI workloads.

Experience with transaction platforms or consumer-scale backend systems.

Experience handling burst traffic and large-scale asynchronous processing. Strong experience with protected migrations, rollback plans and recovery mechanisms.

Experience owning capacity planning and cost per successful workload. Product startup experience, scaling a live product through substantial growth.

Experience using AI tools with review and verification. Strong mentoring and ability to improve engineering and code review quality.
