Role Overview

SAP Technical Consultant / Architect (BTP CAPM)

Experience: 5–8 Years

Technology: SAP BTP | CAPM | Node.js | SAPUI5/Fiori | SAP S/4HANA | AI-Assisted Development

Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced SAP BTP CAPM Developer with strong hands-on expertise in Node.js backend development, SAPUI5/Fiori frontend development, SAP BTP services, and SAP S/4HANA integration.

The candidate should be capable of developing end-to-end applications on SAP BTP, including backend services using CAPM/Node.js, SAPUI5 applications, integration with SAP S/4HANA, deployment across multiple BTP landscapes, and custom enhancements to standard SAP UI5/Fiori controls and libraries.

The role also requires a modern AI-assisted development mindset, including the ability to use Generative AI/vibe-coding tools effectively, create technically precise prompts, understand and validate AI-generated code, troubleshoot it, and adapt the generated solution to SAP BTP and enterprise development standards.

Key Responsibilities

SAP BTP & CAPM Development

- Design and develop enterprise applications using SAP Cloud Application Programming Model (CAPM) with Node.js.
- Develop CDS data models, services, custom actions/functions, event handlers, validations, and business logic.
- Build REST/OData-based services and integrate applications with SAP and non-SAP systems.
- Implement robust error handling, logging, security, authorization, and application configuration.
- Work with databases supported by CAP applications, including SAP HANA Cloud and PostgreSQL, where applicable.
- Troubleshoot application, service-binding, authentication, database, and deployment issues.

SAPUI5 / Fiori Development

- Develop responsive enterprise applications using SAPUI5 and SAP Fiori.
- Strong understanding of Fiori Elements and freestyle SAPUI5 development.
- Extend standard SAPUI5/Fiori functionality using custom controls, fragments, extensions, custom actions, formatters, controllers, and reusable components.
- Customize and enhance standard UI behavior while following SAP-recommended extension principles.
- Work with OData services, annotations, routing, models, binding, and UI5 lifecycle concepts.




- Ability to develop applications that provide a standard SAP user experience while supporting complex custom business requirements.

SAP BTP Administration & Services Hands-on knowledge of SAP BTP Cockpit and Cloud Foundry environments, including:

- Global Accounts, Directories, Subaccounts and Spaces
- Entitlements and service subscriptions
- Cloud Foundry environment setup
- Destinations and Connectivity
- XSUAA and application security
- Role Collections and authorization concepts
- Service Instances and Service Bindings
- HTML5 Application Repository
- SAP Build Work Zone integration
- Application logs and troubleshooting

Deployment & Landscape Management

- Build and deploy CAPM/UI5 solutions using MTA/MTAR and Cloud Foundry CLI.
- Understand application deployment across DEV, QA/UAT and Production landscapes.
- Configure environment-specific destinations, services, variables, credentials, and application parameters.
- Understand CI/CD concepts for automated build, deployment, upgrade, and release management.
- Support deployment of reusable BTP solutions into different subaccounts and customer BTP landscapes.
- Troubleshoot build, deployment, dependency, service-binding, and runtime issues.

SAP S/4HANA Integration & Business Understanding

- Good understanding of SAP S/4HANA business processes and how BTP applications extend S/4HANA.
- Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical BTP solutions.
- Experience consuming SAP S/4HANA OData/REST APIs and other integration interfaces.
- Understand master data, transactional data, document flows, and basic cross-functional dependencies.
- Ability to analyze SAP APIs, payload structures, business objects, and integration requirements.
- Familiarity with Clean Core and Side-by-Side Extension principles is highly desirable.

AI-Assisted / Vibe Coding Skills The candidate should be comfortable using Generative AI as an engineering accelerator rather than simply generating code.

Expected capabilities include

- Use AI coding tools effectively for CAPM, Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, SAPUI5, CDS, OData, SQL, and BTP configuration.
- Write clear and technically structured prompts containing architecture, SAP constraints, data models, APIs, expected behavior, and acceptance criteria.




- Use AI to accelerate solution design, code generation, debugging, refactoring, test-case creation, documentation, and issue resolution.
- Understand AI-generated code rather than blindly implementing generated output.
- Review generated code for correctness, security, maintainability, performance, and SAP development standards.
- Identify hallucinated/non-existent APIs, libraries, SAP services, properties, or configuration proposed by AI.
- Debug and modify AI-generated code to make it work within the actual SAP BTP/CAPM/UI5 environment.
- Perform the final technical tweaking, integration, testing, optimization, and production hardening required after AI-assisted code generation.
- Maintain ownership and accountability for the final implemented solution irrespective of whether the initial code was manually or AI generated.

Required Technical Skills Must Have: SAP BTP, CAPM, Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, CDS, OData/REST APIs, SAPUI5, SAP Fiori/Fiori Elements, BTP Cockpit, Cloud Foundry, Destinations, XSUAA/Security, MTA deployment, Git, S/4HANA integration and AI-assisted coding.

Good to Have: SAP HANA Cloud, PostgreSQL, SAP Build Work Zone, CI/CD, SAP Cloud Transport Management, SAP Integration Suite, Event Mesh, SAP Business Application Studio, GitHub/GitHub Actions and automated testing.

Candidate Profile

- 5–8 years of relevant SAP development experience, with strong recent hands-on experience in SAP BTP.
- Strong development capability across both CAPM/Node.js backend and SAPUI5/Fiori frontend.
- Ability to independently design, develop, troubleshoot and deploy BTP applications.
- Strong analytical and debugging skills.
- Valuable understanding of SAP S/4HANA processes and enterprise application architecture.
- Ability to interact with functional consultants and business teams and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Strong understanding of integration, security, extensibility and deployment concepts.
- Comfortable working in an AI-augmented engineering environment where developers are expected to combine SAP expertise with effective use of Generative AI.
- Able to review and take technical ownership of both manually developed and AI-generated code.

Preferred Candidate We are particularly interested in developers who are not limited to traditional SAP coding. The ideal candidate combines SAP BTP architecture knowledge, hands-on CAPM/Node.js development, strong SAPUI5 skills, S/4HANA business understanding, deployment expertise, and AI-assisted engineering capabilities to deliver production-ready SAP solutions rapidly without compromising technical quality.
