Role Description The Roto Prep Artist will be responsible for preparing shots for further VFX work by creating accurate mattes, performing basic cleanup, and organizing elements for compositing. Day-to-day tasks include rotoscoping characters and objects, assisting with keying and paint work, and collaborating with motion tracking and compositing teams to ensure clean, production-ready plates. The role involves reviewing shots for technical accuracy, maintaining consistent quality across sequences, and following established pipeline and naming conventions.





This is a contract role based in Kolkata in a hybrid setup, with primary work at the studio and some flexibility for working from home as project needs allow.

Qualifications

- Strong foundational skills in rotoscoping and Keying, with the ability to create precise mattes and clean extractions.
- Proficiency in Paint and basic cleanup techniques to remove unwanted elements and prepare plates for compositing.
- Experience with Motion Tracking workflows and understanding of how roto and prep support tracking and matchmove tasks.
- Background in Art or Computer Graphics, with a good sense of composition, movement, and visual continuity.
- Familiarity with industry-standard VFX tools (e.g., Nuke, After Effects, Mocha, or similar roto/paint software).
- Ability to follow a production pipeline, meet deadlines, and respond constructively to feedback from leads and supervisors.
- Strong attention to detail, visual accuracy, and commitment to maintaining consistent shot quality.
- Relevant diploma or degree in animation, visual effects, fine arts, or computer graphics is preferred; equivalent practical experience is also valued.
