Role Title: Quality Engineer

Position Summary:

Marriott is seeking a Quality Automation Engineer to join the Hotel Websites (HWS) team within IT Application Development. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated testing solutions for enterprise web applications and digital platforms. The engineer will collaborate with developers, product owners, and quality engineering team members to ensure reliable, accessible, and high-quality digital experiences across browsers, devices, and locales.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated test scripts for web applications using Playwright and related automation tools.
- Automate functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end test scenarios across desktop and mobile web experiences.
- Review requirements and acceptance criteria to identify test scenarios and automation opportunities.
- Execute automated test suites, analyze failures, document results, and support timely defect resolution.
- Perform manual testing when a scenario is not yet automated or requires exploratory validation.
- Validate user interface behavior, responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, and content across supported locales.




- Develop and maintain automated API tests for web services and backend integrations.
- Contribute to the integration and execution of automated tests within CI/CD pipelines.
- Log and track defects with clear reproduction steps, supporting evidence, expected results, and actual results.
- Collaborate with developers and product team members to improve testability and identify defects early in the development lifecycle.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.
- Maintain test data, automation configurations, and reusable test components.
- Follow quality engineering, accessibility, security, and release standards established by the team.
- Contribute to automation coverage, test execution reporting, framework enhancements, and continuous quality improvements.
- Demonstrate ownership of assigned work, proactively communicate risks and blockers, and contribute to a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications:

- 2+ years of experience in software quality assurance, quality engineering, test automation, software development, or a related technical role.
- Hands-on experience developing and maintaining automated test frameworks for web applications.
- Hands-on experience with Playwright test automation; experience with Selenium or similar tools is a plus.
- Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript or Java for developing and maintaining test automation frameworks and scripts.
- Strong understanding of software testing concepts, including test case design, defect lifecycle management, regression testing, and test results analysis.
- Strong understanding of web technologies, API testing, browser developer tools, and test automation best practices.
- Understanding of accessibility testing principles and web accessibility standards.
- Robust analytical, debugging, problem-solving, written communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to learn new automation tools, frameworks,



and quality engineering practices.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

- Experience with test automation framework patterns, reusable components, page objects, test data management, and version control.
- Experience with Java, JavaScript, or TypeScript in an automation project.
- Exposure to API testing tools or frameworks such as REST Assured, Postman, or similar solutions.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated test execution in a continuous integration environment.
- Familiarity with Git and collaboration platforms such as Jira, Confluence, or Azure DevOps.
- Knowledge of accessibility testing standards and tools, including WCAG and ADA considerations.
- Exposure to performance, load, stability, or reliability testing.
- Familiarity with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) or another content management system.
- Experience testing responsive, cross-browser, mobile web, multilingual, or multi-locale applications.
- Understanding of Agile/Scrum delivery practices.
- Experience with test reporting, automation metrics, or release-readiness reporting.

Education and Certifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical field or equivalent experience/certification
