Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Planning Manager – Civil role based in Chennai.

The Planning

Manager will be responsible for preparing, updating, and monitoring project schedules using appropriate planning tools, ensuring alignment with contract milestones and construction sequences. The role involves coordinating with project managers, site engineers, and other stakeholders to gather progress data, analyze variances, and recommend corrective actions.

Manager will prepare regular progress reports, dashboards, and forecasts related to timelines, resources, and costs, and support management in decision-making. Additional responsibilities include developing work breakdown structures, tracking critical paths, identifying risks, and assisting in claims, extension-of-time (EOT) documentation, and compliance with internal procedures. The individual will also participate in planning meetings, support tender planning when required, and contribute to continuous improvement of planning and control processes.

Qualifications

- Strong civil engineering knowledge with experience in construction planning, project scheduling, and site coordination.




- Proficiency in planning and scheduling software (such as Primavera P6 or MS Project) and MS Office tools for reporting and analysis.
- Ability to develop and manage work breakdown structures, track progress, analyze delays, and prepare mitigation plans.
- Experience in project cost and resource planning, including productivity analysis, forecasting, and budgeting support.
- Knowledge of contract conditions, EOT and claims support, and standard project management methodologies.
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail in documentation and reporting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams on-site.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; prior experience as a Planning Engineer/Manager in civil projects is preferred.
- Ability to work full-time in office in Chennai, manage multiple projects or packages, and meet tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with safety standards, quality systems, and industry best practices in civil construction is an advantage.
