Position: Piping Designer

Total Experience: 7-14 years of relevant experience

Education: Diploma / ITI (Mechanical)

Location: Vastrapur, Ahmedabad

Roles and Responsibilities:

Role PurposeTo independently develop plant layouts, 3D piping models, and detailed engineering drawings for water and wastewater treatment facilities using Autodesk Plant 3D, while coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate, clash-free, and effective plant designs.

Key Responsibilities

- Independently develop equipment layouts for water treatment and thermal facilities including pipe rack plans, access roads, pavements, drainage systems, firefighting systems, storage areas, maintenance access, safety requirements, and material handling provisions.
- Prepare hydraulic flow diagrams for gravity structures in water treatment plants.
- Develop civil outline drawings and civil input drawings for water treatment facilities.
- Create and manage projects, catalogs, specifications, and backups within Autodesk Plant 3D design software.
- Develop custom components and parametric models in Autodesk Plant 3D as per project requirements.
- Perform 3D modeling of equipment, skids, piping, civil structures, cable trays, and instrumentation using Autodesk Plant 3D.




- Extract and prepare engineering documentation such as Piping GA, Skid GA, Pipe Support GA, Piping Isometrics, and material take-off reports from Plant 3D models.
- Review drawings and 3D models to ensure compliance with project standards and ISO requirements.
- Coordinate with civil, structural, and electrical teams to ensure clash-free designs of skids, modules, and plant layouts.
- Work closely with piping engineers to resolve fabrication, shop, or site issues related to piping and plant design.
- Visit fabrication shops and project sites when required to resolve design or installation issues.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior designers and drafters.
- Support the Applications team during FEED phases for layout development, BOQs, and preliminary estimates.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, vendors, and external stakeholders during design and engineering coordination.

Must-Have Experience

- 6–15 years of experience in piping design or plant layout design for water treatment, process plants, or EPC projects.
- Strong experience in Autodesk Plant 3D for 3D modelling, piping layouts, and engineering drawings.
- Expertise in developing equipment layouts, piping GA drawings, isometrics, and material take-off reports.
- Experience coordinating with civil, structural, electrical, and process engineering teams.
- Ability to resolve design issues related to fabrication, installation, and commissioning.
- Strong understanding of piping standards, plant layout planning, and engineering documentation.
- Experience guiding junior designers and drafting teams.

Good-to-Have Experience

- Experience in water and wastewater treatment plant design.
- Exposure to FEED engineering phases and proposal support.
- Knowledge of ISO standards and plant engineering best practices.
- Experience working with international projects or EPC environments.
