Role Description

As a PERN Stack Developer Intern (Unpaid) at Small Fare®, you will support the development and maintenance of web applications using PostgreSQL, Express.js, React, and Node.js. On a day-to-day basis, you will assist in building and integrating front-end components, designing and testing APIs, and working with databases to store and retrieve application data. You will collaborate with senior developers to troubleshoot issues, improve performance, and implement new features across products in the Small Fare® portfolio.





The internship will also involve writing clean, well-documented code, participating in code reviews, and learning best practices in modern web development and deployment. This is an internship role and is fully remote.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess foundational skills in JavaScript and experience with React for building user interfaces.
- Candidates should possess skills in Node.js and Express.js for developing server-side logic and RESTful APIs.
- Candidates should possess basic knowledge of PostgreSQL or other relational databases, including schema design and querying.
- Candidates should possess familiarity with version control tools such as Git and GitHub for collaborative development.
- Candidates should possess an understanding of web fundamentals, including HTML, CSS, and responsive design principles.
- Candidates should possess solid problem-solving abilities and a willingness to learn new technologies in a fast-paced environment.
- Candidates should possess effective communication and collaboration skills to work with distributed, remote teams.
- Enrollment in or recent completion of a degree or certificate program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is beneficial.
- Exposure to deployment workflows, APIs, or cloud platforms (e.g., Firebase, AWS, or similar) is a plus.
- Interest in fintech, events, e-commerce, or creator-focused platforms and a passion for building user-centric digital products are advantageous.
