Information about the role:

Emeritus is seeking an Industry Subject Matter Expert in AI Construction Management for our School Partner Stanford. The SME is a part-time position with expertise in AI Construction Management. This role will review and validate course content for technical accuracy, clarity, completeness, and practical relevance, recommending edits or additions as needed for an online course designed and developed in partnership with Stanford. The successful candidate is a construction professional who understands AI applications and technology, not simply an AI specialist learning about construction.

The SME should be able to evaluate AI applications in real construction management contexts, including scheduling, cost control, risk management, safety, RFIs/submittals, procurement, progress reporting, and document review. They should help ensure the course reflects practical, responsible, and current uses of AI rather than broad technology concepts alone. They understand how construction projects operate, and at the same time, they are enthusiastic about how AI can improve construction and project management workflows.





Candidates must have industry experience and demonstrated knowledge of the course subject area.

This is a great role for someone who wants work flexibility and the chance to diversify their resume with consultancy and teaching experience. This is an independent contractor position in a remote setting.

Key Responsibilities of the Subject Matter Expert include but are not limited to:

- Review and validate course materials for the following audiences:
- C-Suite professionals, entrepreneurs, and senior leaders
- Review and validate assessments and activities that:
- Provide an opportunity for students to demonstrate an understanding of key skills and concepts related to digital transformation, including asynchronous discussions, quizzes with robust feedback, and assignments.
- Align with pre-determined, measurable learning objectives.
- Develop supplemental materials, such as course project documents
- Thoroughly review course materials and provide feedback to ensure accuracy and quality. The materials include but are not limited to the following: Reviewing video storyboards and reviewing module content in google docs.
- Validate course examples, assessments, and activities against real-world AI use cases in construction management.
- Adhere to strict weekly deadlines for materials
- Complete timely reviews of videos and other course materials (24-hour turnaround time)
- Attend regular meetings with stakeholders.

Qualifications for the role:

- 10+ years of extensive work experience in construction management, project management,



engineering, construction technology or a closely related field.
- A bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields: engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or any related discipline.
- A master’s degree is preferred for advanced research, AI or construction systems.
- Working knowledge of artificial intelligence and generative AI tools.
- Ability to identify practical applications of AI within construction workflows.
- Strong understanding of construction project lifecycles and project management processes.
- Experience with construction documentation, specifications, schedules, estimates, contracts, progress reports.
- Experience with construction platforms and technologies such as project management information systems.
- Experience implementing AI analytics, automation or digital transformation initiatives within construction or the built workplace.
- Experience supporting technical learners in applied or project-based environments.
- Experience supporting executive or mid-career professionals in continuing education is highly preferred.
- Excellent communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills with an ability to listen effectively, respond appropriately, and maintain a mutual comfort level while working with a diverse population.
- Ability to translate technical content into actionable insights.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to manage weekly cycles of engagement and support.
