About the Role

We are looking for a skilled HTML Email Developer with strong hands-on experience in developing, testing, and optimizing responsive HTML email templates for multiple email clients and devices.

The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of email-specific HTML/CSS coding, table-based layouts, responsive email development, Outlook compatibility, dark-mode rendering, image handling, and cross-client testing.

This role is specifically focused on production-ready HTML email development, rather than general website/front-end development.

Key Responsibilities

1. HTML Email Development· Develop responsive and pixel-accurate HTML email templates from Figma/design files.

· Build emails using table-based HTML structures and email-compatible CSS.

· Write clean, organized, reusable and well-commented HTML/CSS.

· Ensure the final email closely matches the approved design across desktop, tablet and mobile devices.

· Optimize email code for reliability, compatibility and maintainability.

2. Cross-Client CompatibilityDevelop and troubleshoot emails across major email clients, including:

· Microsoft Outlook

· Outlook 365 / Microsoft 365

· Gmail

· Apple Mail

· Yahoo Mail

· AOL

· GMX

· Other major webmail and mobile email clients

· Identify and resolve rendering differences between email clients.

· Handle Outlook-specific rendering limitations and fixes.

· Troubleshoot issues related to Outlook 120 DPI scaling and image/layout distortion.

3. Responsive Email Development· Build responsive emails that render correctly across:

· Desktop

· Mobile

· Tablet

· iOS

· Android





· Implement fluid layouts and responsive techniques suitable for email clients.

· Ensure correct stacking, spacing, alignment, font sizing and image scaling on smaller screens.

4. Dark Mode Compatibility· Develop and test emails for dark-mode environments.

· Troubleshoot dark-mode rendering issues across:

· Gmail

· Outlook

· Microsoft 365

· Apple/iOS

· Android

· Yahoo and other supported clients

· Ensure appropriate text/background contrast and readability.

· Handle logos, images, icons and CTA elements appropriately for dark mode.

5. Outlook-Specific Development· Implement Outlook-compatible HTML/CSS techniques.

· Work with MSO conditional comments and VML where required.

· Develop bulletproof CTA buttons that work across Outlook and other major email clients.

· Resolve Outlook-specific issues related to:

· Width

· Padding

· Alignment

· Images

· Buttons

· Fonts

· DPI/scaling

· Backgrounds

6. Image & Retina Support· Ensure images are correctly hosted, referenced and rendered.

· Implement appropriate image dimensions and attributes.

· Support Retina/high-resolution displays.

· Troubleshoot image rendering/blocking issues across email clients.

· Ensure appropriate alt text and fallback behavior.

7. CTA & Interactive Elements· Develop responsive and bulletproof CTA buttons.

· Ensure buttons render correctly across desktop and mobile email clients.

· Test CTA alignment, sizing, padding and clickability.

· Ensure links are correctly implemented and tested.

8. Email QA & Testing· Test email templates before production release.

· Use tools such as Email on Acid, Litmus or equivalent email testing platforms.

· Review email rendering across multiple:

· Devices

· Operating systems

· Browsers

· Email clients

· Dark/light modes

· Identify rendering issues, correct them and retest before final approval.

9. Design Accuracy· Convert Figma/PSD/design references into accurate HTML emails.

· Maintain consistency in:

· Spacing

· Alignment

· Typography

· Images

· Colors

· Buttons

· Footer

· Overall layout





· Do not make unnecessary changes to the approved design.

Dark Mode Expertise – MandatoryCandidate should understand how email rendering changes in dark mode and should have experience troubleshooting issues such as:

· Text becoming unreadable

· Background color changes

· Logo visibility

· Image inversion

· Footer readability

· CTA color changes

· Contrast problems

· Gmail dark mode

· Outlook dark mode

· iOS/Apple Mail dark mode

Email Testing & QAThe candidate should be comfortable following a process such as:

Develop → Test → Identify Rendering Issues → Fix → Retest → QA Approval → Production

Experience with Email on Acid or Litmus will be highly valued.

Qualifications· Bachelor's degree/diploma in Computer Science, IT, Web Development, Design or a related field is preferred.

· 2+ years of hands-on HTML Email Development experience preferred.

· Candidates with solid practical email-development portfolios may also be considered.

What We Are Looking ForWe are looking for someone who can build and troubleshoot production-ready HTML emails, not just standard web pages.

The candidate should be able to take a Figma design and independently:
