About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and highly responsible General Manager – Garment Export Operations to manage the overall day-to-day operations of our garment export company.

The General Manager will be responsible for coordinating and controlling the complete business operation from order confirmation through production and final shipment, ensuring that every order is delivered on time, at the planned cost, with the required quality and as per customer specifications.

The role requires strong leadership and the ability to coordinate across merchandising, sampling, production, planning, fabric, cutting, sewing, finishing, printing, embroidery, quality, stores, purchase, accounts, HR, maintenance, packing and export documentation.

The General Manager will act as the key link between Management and all operational departments, ensuring that company objectives, customer commitments, cost targets, quality standards and delivery schedules are achieved.

Key Responsibilities

1. Overall Business & Operations Management

- Manage the overall day-to-day operations of the garment manufacturing and export business.
- Translate management objectives into clear operational plans for each department.
- Ensure all departments work according to planned schedules, priorities and company requirements.
- Monitor the overall performance of the factory and take corrective action whenever required.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and ensure timely solutions.
- Establish accountability and performance standards across departments.

2. Order-to-Shipment Management

Take overall ownership of the operational execution of confirmed orders:

Order Confirmation → Planning → Fabric & Trims → Sampling → Cutting → Production → Printing/Embroidery → Finishing → Quality → Packing → Shipment

- Ensure every order is properly planned immediately after confirmation.
- Review order quantities, delivery dates, production capacity and required resources.
- Coordinate with Merchandising and Planning teams to establish realistic production schedules.
- Monitor the progress of every order against its committed delivery date.
- Ensure delays are identified at an early stage and corrective action is taken immediately.
- Ensure finished goods are ready for shipment according to the customer’s required delivery schedule.

3. Production Planning & Control

- Monitor production planning and capacity utilization.
- Ensure production departments achieve daily and weekly targets.
- Review production efficiency, productivity and output.
- Monitor cutting, sewing, finishing and other value-added processes.
- Identify production losses, bottlenecks, idle time and capacity issues.
- Ensure production is carried out according to approved samples, specifications and quality requirements.
- Coordinate with production managers to improve productivity and reduce unnecessary costs.

4. Cost Control & Profitability

- Take responsibility for operational cost control at every stage of production.
- Monitor actual production costs against planned/approved costs.
- Identify excess consumption, wastage, rework, overtime and other avoidable costs.




- Control fabric, trims, labour, production and processing costs wherever possible.
- Monitor order-wise profitability and highlight major cost variations to Management.
- Work with Accounts and Merchandising teams to understand order-wise cost, revenue and profitability.
- Take corrective action when an order is moving outside its planned cost.
- Ensure business operations are managed with a clear focus on profitability.

5. Quality Management

- Ensure quality standards are maintained throughout the manufacturing process.
- Coordinate with the Quality Department to establish and maintain quality checkpoints.
- Ensure customer-approved samples, measurements, workmanship, colours and specifications are followed.
- Monitor rejection, alteration, rework and customer complaints.
- Identify the root cause of quality issues and ensure corrective and preventive action.
- Ensure finished goods meet customer requirements before shipment.

6. Delivery & Shipment Management

- Take overall responsibility for meeting customer delivery commitments.
- Review order-wise production and shipment status regularly.
- Ensure departments work according to the required delivery timeline.
- Coordinate with Merchandising, Production, Quality, Packing and Export teams to avoid shipment delays.
- Escalate potential delivery risks to Management at an early stage.
- Ensure finished goods and export documentation are completed on time for shipment.

7. Department Coordination The General Manager will regularly monitor and coordinate the performance of:

The GM should ensure that each department knows what needs to be completed, who is responsible, when it must be completed and whether it has actually been completed on time.

8. Daily & Weekly Management Review

- Conduct regular review meetings with department heads.
- Review order-wise progress against planned timelines.
- Monitor daily production and department-wise targets.
- Review pending issues and assign responsibility for closure.
- Follow up on critical orders and urgent customer requirements.
- Prepare management reports covering production, delivery, quality, cost and operational performance.
- Maintain a clear dashboard of all important orders and their current status.

9. People & Team Management

- Lead and motivate department heads and operational teams.
- Ensure proper responsibility and accountability at every management level.
- Develop capable second-line management within departments.
- Identify manpower requirements and coordinate with HR.
- Monitor employee productivity and departmental performance.
- Address inter-departmental issues and ensure effective teamwork.
- Build a professional,

10. Process Improvement

- Continuously identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency and profitability.
- Reduce unnecessary movement, waiting time, wastage, rework and production losses.
- Improve coordination between departments.
- Establish systems and procedures to ensure consistent operational performance.
- Introduce effective reporting and monitoring systems.
- Ensure the company is able to handle increasing order volumes without compromising quality, cost or delivery.

11. Management Reporting The General Manager will report directly to the Company Management / Directors and provide regular updates on:

- Order status
- Production status
- Delivery commitments
- Capacity utilization
- Productivity
- Quality performance
- Cost variations
- Order-wise profitability
- Manpower requirements
- Major operational issues
- Customer-related operational concerns
- Shipment readiness
- Risks and corrective actions

Required Experience & Skills

- Minimum 10 years of experience in garment manufacturing/export operations, preferably with experience in a managerial or senior management position.
- Strong knowledge of knitwear garment manufacturing and export operations.
- Experience managing multiple departments and large production teams.
- Robust understanding of production planning, quality, costing and delivery management.
- Good knowledge of garment manufacturing processes from fabric to finished garment.
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
- Excellent coordination and communication skills.
- Ability to analyze operational and financial performance.
- Strong problem-solving and follow-up skills.
- Ability to work under delivery pressure and manage multiple orders simultaneously.
- Good command of English communication.

Primary Objective of the Role To ensure that the company’s complete garment export operation runs efficiently and profitably, while every customer order is produced to the required quality, completed within the committed delivery schedule and successfully shipped.

Pay: ₹100,000.00 - ₹125,000.00 per month
