About Airawath

Airawath is an AI-powered invitation and event management platform for the Indian diaspora in the US. Birthdays are the core occasion - kids' birthdays, first birthday celebrations, milestone adult birthdays - alongside housewarmings, baby showers, naming ceremonies and festivals. Users create invitations with AI (text-to-image, chat, voice), manage guests and RSVPs, and get AI assistance throughout.

Founded in 2024, headquartered in Phoenix, AZ, with the team based in India. Live on web, with a mobile app in active development.

The Role You will build product end to end - schema and migration, FastAPI service, Next.js screen, shipped and supported in production. This is a product engineering role as much as an implementation one: alongside writing the code, you will help shape what gets built, make the day-to-day product decisions a specification cannot anticipate, and stay involved in how a feature performs for users once it is live. A meaningful share of the work touches our AI features, so we are looking for genuine hands-on experience building with LLMs.

You will work closely with our backend lead, each of you able to cover the other's areas, so that no part of the product depends on a single person.

What You'll Own

- Features end to end - Postgres schema and migration, FastAPI endpoint, Next.js UI, tests, and the production behaviour afterwards
- Product decisions within your work - a specification cannot cover everything, so the day-to-day calls on how a feature should behave will be yours, along with reviewing how it performed once live
- The AI surfaces - the tool-calling assistant,



gift recommendation and ranking, and AI-assisted invitation generation; extending them, measuring them, and improving what they return
- Frontend quality - React/TypeScript against real designs, on a consumer product where the invitation editor is central to the experience
- Backend services and data model - async SQLAlchemy, query and index design, and hand-written SQL migrations that run cleanly against a live database
- Production ownership - latency, errors, cost and debugging for your features; we deploy weekly on a staging to QA to production train
- Code review - reviewing teammates' pull requests and contributing to the quality bar for what merges

Must Have

- Startup experience. You have worked in a small, quick-moving team where requirements evolved and shipping was a shared responsibility. This matters to us - the role carries a fair amount of ambiguity, and we are looking for someone comfortable working within it.
- 4-7 years of hands-on product development, with coding as a core part of your current day-to-day work
- Product sense - you have taken features from an early idea through to release and made the judgment calls along the way on scope, trade-offs and priorities. We would be glad to hear about a decision you made that the brief did not cover.




- Genuine full-stack range - strong on one side and solidly capable on the other, having shipped features that span both rather than handing off at the API boundary
- Python and a modern async backend - FastAPI preferred; APIs, background jobs, and practical ORM experience
- React and TypeScript in production - component structure, state management, and the judgment to build a screen from a design without every state being specified
- PostgreSQL and SQL - schema design, query performance, and migrations run against a live database
- Production LLM experience - a feature you shipped that used a model to do real work for users, and which you then improved based on how it performed

Good to Have
- Recommendation, ranking, or relevance work
- Consumer product experience, especially with a visual editor or design surface
- AWS, Docker, and ownership of your own deploys
- Flutter or React Native
- Experience as an early engineer or technical founder

What We Are Not Looking For This role is likely not the right fit if your experience is primarily:
- Data analytics, BI or dashboarding (Power BI, Tableau) rather than building product
- Data scraping, ETL or pipeline work without an application around it
- A single narrow component within a large system, without ownership of the wider feature
- LLM work that remained at prototype or notebook stage without production usage

We would rather see one product you took to production and kept improving than five you started.

What Success Looks Like

Month 1: Onboarded and shipping features end to end across backend and frontend independently, with a clear view of where the product's rough edges are and why.

Month 3: Owning a product area outright and acting as the point of contact for it. You have improved at least one AI surface with a measurable difference in what it returns, and you are reviewing teammates' code.

Month 6: Actively proposing what to build next, with no critical part of your area dependent on a single person, and a visible improvement in the quality bar for what ships.
