Job Title: Electric Powertrain Architect
Location: Bangalore
Department: Energy & Charging
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and innovative Electric Powertrain Architect to lead the design, integration, and optimization of next-generation electric propulsion systems. This role will be instrumental in defining & developing system-level architecture for electric drivetrains, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure performance, efficiency, safety, and scalability.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and develop the end-to-end architecture of electric powertrain systems, including motor, inverter, battery pack, DC/DC converters, onboard chargers, and control units.
- Lead system-level trade studies, simulations, and modeling to ensure optimal design decisions.
- Collaborate with hardware and software teams to develop all subsystems for optimal performance and cost.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations (ISO 26262, ISO 21434), and OEM requirements.
•Manage requirements engineering for the electric powertrain system and maintain traceability.
•Oversee the integration of powertrain components into vehicle platforms (including thermal, mechanical, and electrical interfaces).
•Coordinate validation and testing strategies for system-level performance, durability, and efficiency.
•Serve as the technical authority for electric powertrain architecture in concept development, design reviews, and supplier engagements.
•Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies, such as SiC inverters, and high-voltage battery systems (400V / 800V).
•Support cost and weight optimization initiatives without compromising system performance or reliability.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
•10+ years of experience in electric powertrain design or system architecture, preferably in the automotive or mobility industry.
•Strong understanding of electric motors (PMSM, induction), inverters, HV batteries, and control systems.
•Proficiency with simulation tools like MATLAB/Simulink, or equivalent.
•Experience with system engineering tools (e.g., IBM DOORS, Polarion, SysML/UML).
•Familiarity with vehicle communication protocols (CAN, LIN, FlexRay).
•Knowledge of thermal management, and EMC considerations in EV systems.
•Strong problem-solving, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
•Experience in mass production programs for EVs or hybrids.
•Knowledge of model-based systems engineering (MBSE).
•Exposure to Agile or SAFe development environments.
•Hands-on experience with vehicle testing.
•Power electronics knowledge
What We Offer:
•Opportunity to shape the future of sustainable mobility.
•Work in a fast-paced, cutting-edge environment with cutting-edge technology.
•Competitive compensation and benefits.
•A collaborative, multidisciplinary team culture.
