Whats the role?

As Director, AI/ML Engineering, you will shape the technical vision and delivery of AI-powered capabilities across HERE’s mapmaking ecosystem. You will guide strategy, develop scalable platforms, support responsible AI practices, and help teams translate business needs into practical solutions and measurable outcomes.

In this role, you will:

- Define and execute the AI/ML strategy, technical vision, and roadmap, identifying high-impact opportunities across machine learning, generative AI, automation, computer vision, large language models, agentic AI, and advanced analytics.
- Lead the design, development, deployment, and operation of scalable AI/ML products and platforms that support map editing and mapmaking workflows.
- Establish engineering practices for MLOps, model governance, testing, observability, security, and responsible AI, while supporting reliability, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Guide and mentor data scientists and engineering teams through coaching, workshops, technical discussions, and shared learning opportunities.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, platforms, and potential strategic partnerships that can advance HERE’s AI/ML capabilities.
- Lead multidisciplinary initiatives, translate business needs into practical AI/ML solutions, and collaborate with management, customers, and vendors to support informed decisions and measurable results.
- Contribute technical insight to product and organizational strategies while representing HERE’s AI/ML capabilities with internal and external stakeholders.

Who Are you?

You bring a structured,



collaborative approach to solving complex technical problems and a strong interest in using AI and engineering to improve productivity while preserving data quality and integrity

- BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or similar field.
- 12 to 18 years of industry working experience with expertise in data science and analytic methods such as regression, classifiers, clustering, association rules, Bayesian statistics, etc. - multiple areas
- Proficiency in Python and/or C++, preferably on Linux.
- Experience working with deep learning frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, MxNet, ONNX, and Caffe.
- Proven track record of successfully leading projects.
- Strong mentoring and coaching skills with a demonstrated history of developing junior and mid-level data scientists.
- Strong negotiation skills, with a history of influencing senior management and external partners.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to convey complex topics in a clear and engaging manner.
