A VMC (Vertical Machining Center) Setter prepares, adjusts, and optimizes CNC milling machines to produce precision metal or plastic components safely and accurately. [1, 2, 3]Key Responsibilities
Machine Setup: Install and align work-holding fixtures, clamps, and cutting tools on VMC machines according to process sheets.
Offsets & Proving: Establish and verify tool offsets, work offsets (coordinate systems), and run part-proving tests to validate first-off components.
Drawing Interpretation: Read and analyze complex engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T; (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) symbols.
Program Adjustments: Load, test, and minorly edit or optimize G-code/M-code programs (Fanuc, Siemens controllers) for cycle efficiency and surface finish. [1, 2, 3]
Quality Inspection: Inspect machined parts using precision measuring tools like digital vernier calipers, micrometers, and height gauges. [1, 2, 3]
Maintenance & Safety: Perform daily preventive maintenance, minor troubleshooting, and adhere to 5S and workplace safety standards
