Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and skilled Domain Trainer – Sampling Tailor to deliver high-quality technical training under the DDU-GKY project. The trainer will be responsible for imparting practical and theoretical knowledge related to apparel sampling, tailoring techniques, garment construction, quality standards, and workplace practices.

The candidate should have robust practical knowledge of the apparel industry and the ability to train and guide rural youth toward industry-relevant employment.

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver domain-specific training for the Sampling Tailor trade as per the approved DDU-GKY curriculum and training plan.
- Conduct both theoretical and practical training sessions related to garment construction and sampling.
- Demonstrate sewing, cutting, stitching, finishing, and garment assembly techniques.
- Train candidates in preparation of garment samples according to specifications and measurements.
- Provide hands-on training on industrial and domestic sewing machines and related apparel equipment.
- Explain fabric types, trims, accessories, measurements, patterns, and garment construction methods.
- Train candidates in quality checking, defect identification, alteration, and finishing standards.
- Ensure safe and proper use of machines, tools, and equipment.
- Conduct practical assessments, assignments, demonstrations, and periodic evaluations of trainees.
- Maintain attendance, training records, assessment records,



lesson plans, and other required documentation.
- Support trainees in developing industry-oriented skills and workplace discipline.
- Provide guidance on productivity, quality, workplace safety, and professional behaviour.
- Coordinate with the centre/project team regarding trainee performance, assessments, and training requirements.
- Participate in inspections, audits, assessments, placement-related activities, and other DDU-GKY project requirements.

Educational Qualification

- Graduation in any relevant discipline; OR
- ITI (2 years) with 1-year Diploma in a relevant apparel/tailoring/garment-related trade.

Experience

- Minimum 2–3 years of relevant industry/training experience in apparel, tailoring, garment manufacturing, sampling, or a related field.
- Practical experience in sampling and garment construction will be preferred.
- Prior experience as a trainer/instructor in a skill development project will be an added advantage.

Required Skills

- Strong practical knowledge of Sampling Tailor activities.
- Good knowledge of garment construction and sewing operations.
- Ability to operate and demonstrate relevant sewing machines.
- Knowledge of measurements, patterns, stitching techniques,



finishing, and quality control.
- Good communication and classroom management skills.
- Ability to explain technical concepts through practical demonstrations.
- Patience and ability to work with candidates from rural and diverse backgrounds.
- Basic computer and documentation skills.
- Strong focus on trainee development, discipline, and employability.

Preferred

- Experience with DDU-GKY, PMKVY, DAY-NULM, NAPS, or other government/skill development projects.
- Knowledge of industry standards and workplace safety practices.
- Relevant industry certifications or trainer certifications will be an advantage.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

- Training delivery as per approved curriculum and schedule.
- Trainee attendance, engagement, and practical skill development.
- Improvement in trainee assessment/performance scores.
- Completion of practical demonstrations and assessments.
- Proper maintenance of training and assessment records.
