Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Gold Melting & Operations Supervisor/Manager to oversee the complete process of receiving, opening, inspecting, sorting, and melting gold jewellery and other precious-metal items.

The ideal candidate should be capable of leading a team, establishing strong operational controls, preventing theft and material loss, monitoring wastage, and ensuring that all processes are accurately recorded in the company’s software systems.

Key Responsibilities

1. Material Receiving and Inspection

- Supervise the receipt and opening of jewellery packets and material consignments.
- Inspect items before melting to identify:
- Counterfeit or fake items
- Tampered, adulterated, or suspicious material
- Damaged or irregular items
- Any internal discrepancies or quality issues
- Ensure that proper checks are completed before material is sent for melting.
- Maintain accurate records of received material and inspection results.

2. Sorting and Segregation

- Supervise the removal and separation of:
- Diamonds
- Precious and semi-precious stones
- Other valuable components
- Gold and other metals intended for melting
- Ensure that no valuable stones or jewellery components are lost during the sorting process.
- Establish proper procedures for handling, recording, and securing separated stones and diamonds.

3. Wastage and Process Control

- Develop and implement standard operating procedures for material handling and processing.
- Establish minimum wastage benchmarks for each type of material or process.
- Monitor wastage levels and ensure they do not exceed approved limits.
- Investigate and report any abnormal wastage, discrepancies, or unexplained losses.
- Maintain daily production, wastage, and recovery reports.

Gold Melting Operations

- Take responsibility for the complete gold melting process.
- Establish and monitor a proper melting system, including:
- Melting procedures
- Batch-wise material tracking
- Crucible and equipment checks
- Weight verification before and after melting
- Recovery and yield monitoring
- Ensure that all melting activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and transparently.
- Prevent theft, unauthorized handling, and material loss during the melting process.
- Coordinate with quality-control and accounts teams for reconciliation of gold weights and output.

5. Gold Dust and Recovery Management

- Supervise the collection, filtration, storage, and sale of gold dust generated during operations.
- Ensure that dust is properly recovered from filters, floors, equipment, and other relevant areas.
- Maintain complete records of collected dust, recovered gold, and sales.
- Implement procedures to minimize dust-related losses.

6. Team Leadership and Staff Management

- Lead and manage artisans, melting staff, sorting staff, and other workshop employees.
- Allocate daily work and monitor team performance.
- Train employees on operational procedures, security controls, quality standards, and safety.
- Ensure discipline, accountability, and adherence to company policies.




- Act as a team leader who can independently manage the department—not just perform routine labour.

7. Software and Reporting

- Use company software to record and monitor:
- Incoming material
- Packet details
- Sorting and stone recovery
- Melting batches
- Wastage
- Gold output and recovery
- Gold dust collection
- Inventory movement
- Prepare regular operational reports for management.
- Identify discrepancies between physical stock, system records, and production output.

Required Qualifications and Experience

- Previous experience in:
- Gold melting
- Jewellery manufacturing or refining
- Precious-metal recovery
- Jewellery sorting and stone separation
- Workshop or production supervision
- Experience in a supervisory, managerial, or team-lead role.
- Strong understanding of gold weight control, melting procedures, wastage, recovery, and reconciliation.
- Experience managing artisans and workshop teams.
- Basic computer literacy and the ability to learn and use operational software.
- Valuable communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- High level of honesty, integrity, responsibility, and attention to detail.

Preferred Skills

- Knowledge of diamonds, gemstones, and jewellery components.
- Ability to identify suspicious, counterfeit, adulterated, or tampered material.
- Understanding of melting losses, recovery percentages, and production benchmarks.
- Strong inventory-control and documentation skills.
- Ability to create and enforce Standard Operating Procedures.
- Experience with security controls and loss-prevention systems.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage a high-value operation.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
