At Komal Healthcare we are looking for CNC Programmer for our unit at Bhayandar East.
- Experience: Typically 3 to 5+ years of CNC programming experience, with a strong preference for candidates coming from the medical device, or precision defense industries.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. A technical degree, or an Degree in CNC Technology/Manufacturing Engineering is highly preferred.
The CNC Programmer will be responsible to develop, optimize, and maintain CNC programs for multi-axis machines (typically 4-axis and 5-axis mills, Swiss-turn lathes, and multi-tasking machines) to produce orthopedic joint implants.
This role bridges the gap between engineering designs (CAD) and physical manufacturing (CAM), ensuring that components are produced safely, efficiently, and in strict compliance with medical device quality standards.Programming & Technical Operations
- Generate CAM Programs: Create and optimize 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis CNC programs using advanced software (e.g., Mastercam, NX CAM, Esprit, or Hypermill).
- Interpret Blueprint Specifications: Analyze complex engineering drawings, 3D CAD models, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T;) to determine the best manufacturing sequence.
- Tooling & Fixture Design: Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds tailored to tough medical-grade materials. Design custom workholding fixtures for complex geometry implants.
- Simulation & Verification: Run thorough machine simulations (using software like Vericut) to prevent machine crashes, tool breakage, or material gouging before code reaches the shop floor.
Quality, Compliance & Documentation
- Traceability & Validation: Participate in machine and process validations (IQ/OQ/PQ) required by the FDA and ISO 13485 standards.
- Maintain Digital Records: Manage version control for all CNC programs, setup sheets,
and tooling lists in accordance with medical device documentation rules.
- Inspection Integration: Program or collaborate with Quality Engineers to implement in-process inspection methods using CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machines) or vision systems.
Production Support & Continuous Improvement
- First-Article Inspection (FAI): Support CNC operators during the setup and execution of "first-article" prototype runs to ensure the program meets exact dimensions.
- Cycle Time Optimization: Continually refine existing programs to reduce cycle times, minimize material waste, and extend cutting tool life.
- Troubleshooting: Assist production staff in diagnosing and resolving machining issues, part defects, or program errors on the shop floor.
Required Skills & QualificationsTechnical Skills
- CAM Software Proficiency: Mastery of industry-standard CAM systems (Mastercam, Siemens NX, or Esprit are highly preferred in medical manufacturing).
- Multi-Axis Machining: Deep understanding of 5-axis milling and Swiss-turn programming techniques, as implants often feature highly complex, organic surfaces.
- Advanced Metallurgy Knowledge: Experience machining biocompatible metals like Titanium (6Al-4V), Cobalt-Chrome (CoCr), and Stainless Steel (316LVM), as well as ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE).
- GD&T; Expertise: Advanced ability to read and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing standards to maintain tight tolerances (often within ±0.0002 inches or microns).
Soft Skills & Compliance
- Detail-Oriented: An uncompromising commitment to quality, as implant defects directly impact patient health.
- Regulatory Awareness: Familiarity with FDA 21 CFR Part 820 and ISO 13485 medical quality management systems.
- Problem-Solving: Robust analytical skills to diagnose complex machining variances and optimise tool paths.
