Job Summary

Structural Engineer for Tower Internals FEA analysis and Certification – R&D;

Qualifications:

- Graduate/ Postgraduate in Mechanical/ Production Engineering

- 5 - 8 years of relevant experience (E.g.: Turbo machinery, Wind turbine or Heavy machinery)

- Min 3 years of experience in Wind turbine design preferable

Key Responsibilities

Roles and responsibilities:

- Implement design or analysis tasks in accordance with Eurocode requirements.

- Knowledge of bolted and Welded connections, Fatigue, Linear, Nonlinear structural, Modal, and Buckling analysis.

- Exposure to certification requirements for Wind turbine components or similar with certification agencies like DNV, TUV Sud etc

- Proficient FEA user with at least 10 years’ experience in ANSYS Workbench and Spaceclaim .

- Develop finite element models from CAD models and perform FEA simulation

- Analyze and interpret FEA results to support product design decisions

- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement solutions

- Past experience in bolted joint and welded joint evaluations from hand calculations and from FEA software results is a must . Excel VBA coding is desired.

- Knowledge about the structural design of l arge bolted structures , welded structures, and forged components.

- Good understanding of HCF/LCF and fracture mechanics.

- Task coordination and priorities, as well as task execution of key tasks.

- Carrying out the structural assessments (linear and non-linear analysis in ANSYS workbench) for various components and suggesting design changed based on results.

- Share the regular progress update with the team and relevant stakeholders.

- Ensure execution and timely completion of assignments.

- Preparing certification reports.

- Training/guiding colleagues in automating their tasks, reviewing reports,



and developing FEA methodologies for new components .

- Must be a prolific code developer in Iron Python (and excel VBA) for automating pre and post processing/post processing tasks in Spaceclaim , Workbench and excel sheets. Able to independently identify , conceptualize and implement automation ideas as part of continuous improvements.

- Must be capable of establishing methods/ hand calculations/ approaches to validate FEA modeling simplifications to accelerate early design feedback.

M ain tasks include establishing the design basis for NPD/ current technology maturation for offshore /onshore tower internals. As a lead dev el ops checklists and reviews finite element models (FE models) in the Ansys and SpaceClaim FEA softwares , as well as responsibility for technical verification certification reports in accordance with relevant standards.

T asks also include coordinating with external certifying agencies like DNV . Represent the team in ANSYS users community and also with rest of SGRE structural/FEA calculation experts. As technology owner for VER team in SST, provide s direction and approves the next set of targeted enhancements in calculation methods, efficiency/productivity tools and also coordinates component tests to verify or establish safety standards FEA calculations can rely on.

Some of the other job responsibilities are:

- Structural engineer specializing in the wind industry with practical and theoretical expertise . Contribute to structural design and development of wind turbine tower internal structures.

- Expertise in wind turbine design codes, standards, and fatigue analysis. Understanding of HCF/LCF and fracture mechanics. Experience in analytical calculations for bolted/welded constructions.

- Experience in contacts, Nonlinear analysis, Buckling Analysis, etc. Perform structural analysis per EURO standards using ANSYS Workbench FEA solver and hand calculations.
