Job Description Summary

The Senior Python Developer is responsible for the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of enterprise-grade software solutions across Deutsche Bank technology platforms. The role focuses on delivering scalable, secure, and high-performing applications using Python while working within Agile teams and modern DevOps practices.

The successful candidate will possess strong expertise in Python software engineering, backend service development, API design, data processing, and cloud-native architectures. The individual will collaborate closely with architects, product owners, business stakeholders, and global engineering teams to deliver strategic technology solutions that align with Deutsche Bank engineering standards and software development best practices.

Education

Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or other STEM-related disciplines, or equivalent industry experience.

Experience

- 8-12+ years of professional software engineering experience, with significant hands-on expertise in Python development.
- Proven experience delivering enterprise applications through multiple full software development life cycles.
- Strong experience developing large-scale backend systems in cloud and enterprise environments.
- Experience working in Agile delivery teams using Scrum or Kanban methodologies.
- Experience collaborating with global teams and stakeholders across multiple locations.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure Python-based applications.
- Build and support backend services, RESTful APIs, microservices, and data processing solutions.
- Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions and software designs.
- Develop reusable components, frameworks, and libraries to improve engineering efficiency and consistency.
- Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to technology strategy and solution design.
- Ensure high software quality through code reviews, automated testing, and engineering best practices.
- Optimize application performance, reliability, availability,



and scalability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Architecture, Infrastructure, Security, Business Analysis, and Product Management.
- Support CI/CD implementation and automation across development and deployment processes.
- Contribute to production support activities, root cause analysis, and continuous service improvement.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering excellence across the team.

Skill Requirements

Mandatory Technical Skills

Python Development

- Strong commercial experience developing software solutions using Python.
- Proven experience building backend services, RESTful APIs, microservices, and data processing pipelines using Python.
- Strong understanding of Python software engineering principles, including:
- - Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
- Design Patterns
- SOLID Principles
- Clean Code Practices

- Experience with modern Python frameworks such as Flask, FastAPI, Django, or equivalent.
- Experience developing scalable and maintainable applications in cloud or enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, and distributed systems concepts.
- Experience implementing asynchronous processing, messaging, and event-driven architectures.
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization skills.

Database & Data Engineering

- Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
- Strong understanding of data modeling and database design principles.
- Proven ability to write efficient and optimized SQL queries.
- Experience designing and implementing scalable data persistence solutions.
- Familiarity with ORM frameworks and database access patterns.
- Understanding of data integration, ETL processes, and data pipelines is advantageous.

DevOps & Software Quality

- Familiarity with Git-based development workflows and branching strategies.
- Experience using Azure DevOps, GitHub, GitLab, or similar source control and development platforms.




- Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Experience implementing automated testing strategies including:
- - Unit Testing
- Integration Testing
- End-to-End Testing
- Test Automation Frameworks

- Experience working with build automation and deployment pipelines.
- Knowledge of software quality practices, code reviews, static code analysis, and secure coding standards.

Cloud & Platform Engineering

- Experience developing and deploying applications in cloud environments.
- Understanding of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of cloud-native architecture principles and microservices-based systems.
- Experience integrating applications with enterprise platforms and external services.

Agile Delivery & Collaboration

- Experience delivering software within Agile environments using Jira methodologies.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and globally distributed teams.
- Strong understanding of SDLC methodologies and engineering governance practices.
- Experience participating in sprint planning, backlog refinement, estimation, and retrospectives.

- Experience working in Banking, Financial Services, or other highly regulated industries.
- Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, or Splunk.
