Role Overview

The DMV programme is repairing, building and automating a portfolio of 14+ priority Power BI dashboards (Acquisition, Collection, Persistency, ILP Valuation, Attrition, Onboarding Funnel, Cash-In, and others) while re-platforming reporting onto a governed AWS S3 / Snowflake data foundation. The Power BI Dashboard Developer owns end-to-end delivery of assigned dashboards — from data modeling and DAX development through UAT sign-off — and works closely with data engineering, business stakeholders, and the governance workstream to ensure every dashboard is accurate, reconciled, and production-ready.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and build Power BI dashboards and reports from governed Snowflake data sources, including data modeling, DAX measures, and Power Query transformations.
- Translate Business Requirement Documents (BRDs) and KPI definitions into accurate, performant dashboard logic — flagging ambiguous or incomplete requirements early to avoid downstream delays.
- Validate and reconcile dashboard outputs against authoritative source data before submitting for business review.
- Support the "first view" → business review → UAT → sign-off → production lifecycle for each assigned dashboard, and actively drive stakeholder sign-off rather than leaving it open.
- Apply row-level security, refresh scheduling,



and performance optimization best practices for enterprise Power BI deployments.
- Collaborate with Data Engineering to ensure dashboards consume clean, tested, and documented Snowflake models (dbt-based) rather than ad hoc extracts.
- Maintain dashboard documentation: data lineage, KPI definitions used, refresh logic, and known limitations.
- Participate in Data Quality triage — investigate and help resolve discrepancies flagged during reconciliation or business review.
- Support re-platforming of existing dashboards from legacy/interim sources onto Snowflake as the primary source of truth.

Required Skills & Technical Experience

- Power BI (Desktop & Service): advanced DAX, Power Query (M), data modeling (star schema), Row-Level Security.
- Solid SQL — able to write and troubleshoot complex queries directly against Snowflake.
- Working knowledge of Snowflake (warehouses, roles/RBAC, performance tuning) and AWS S3 as a data source layer.
- Familiarity with dbt or similar transformation/modeling frameworks (able to consume and validate dbt-modeled datasets).
- Understanding of data quality and reconciliation practices — validating counts, values, and business logic against source systems.
- Experience working with CI/CD-deployed pipelines (e.g., GitLab) and troubleshooting service/pipeline issues that affect dashboard refreshes.




- Comfortable working from BRDs/KPI specifications and converting them into technical build requirements.
- Exposure to insurance or financial-services reporting (policy, premium, persistency, attrition, actuarial/ILP concepts) is a strong advantage given the current dashboard portfolio.

Experience Level

3–6 years of hands-on Power BI development experience, including at least one full re-platforming or migration engagement (legacy source → modern cloud warehouse). Prior experience in insurance, banking, or financial services reporting is preferred but not mandatory. Demonstrated experience owning dashboards through to business sign-off — not just build — is essential, given the current backlog of pending UAT approvals.

Soft Skills

- Strong stakeholder-management skills — able to proactively chase BRD clarifications and sign-offs rather than letting them stall.
- Comfortable working against fixed target-closure dates across multiple parallel dashboards.
- Clear written documentation habits — KPI logic, assumptions, and known gaps must be traceable, not tribal knowledge.
- Collaborative mindset — this role sits between business stakeholders, data engineering, and programme governance.

Success Measures for This Role

- Assigned dashboards move from "first view" to signed-off production within agreed target closure dates.
- No dashboard remains in an unresolved BRD or pending-sign-off state beyond 2 weeks without an escalated, documented reason.
- Dashboards are built against governed Snowflake sources, not manual extracts, by project completion.

Reconciliation discrepancies are identified and resolved before business review, not during UAT
