Position: Purchase Head

Job Summary
The Purchase Head will be responsible for ensuring the timely availability of the required materials at the right quality, right quantity, right time, and most competitive rates. The role will focus on strategic sourcing, vendor development, cost optimization, and maintaining a reliable and competitive supplier base.

Key Responsibilities

- Ensure procurement of the required materials at the best possible market rates, without compromising on quality or delivery timelines.
- Identify, evaluate, and develop new vendors on a regular basis, with a target of exploring new vendors every month for existing products.
- Continuously benchmark existing purchase prices with the market to identify cost-saving and negotiation opportunities.
- Obtain and compare quotations from multiple suppliers and negotiate competitive pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and other commercial conditions.
- Develop alternative sources for existing materials to reduce dependency on individual vendors and improve purchasing flexibility.
- Maintain and regularly update the approved vendor list based on price, quality, delivery performance, service, and reliability.
- Monitor market trends, raw-material prices,



and supplier developments to identify opportunities for better sourcing and cost reduction.
- Work closely with the Production, Quality, Stores, and Accounts teams to ensure smooth procurement and uninterrupted material availability.
- Ensure materials are purchased as per approved specifications, quality standards, and required quantities.
- Track vendor performance and take corrective action wherever there are issues related to quality, pricing, delivery, or service.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and new suppliers while ensuring healthy commercial competition.
- Conduct regular vendor development and price discovery exercises for existing as well as current products.
- Maintain proper documentation of quotations, negotiations, purchase orders, vendor evaluations, and cost comparisons.
- Establish and monitor purchase KPIs, including cost savings, vendor development, purchase price variance, on-time delivery, and vendor performance.
- Continuously look for opportunities to reduce procurement costs and improve overall purchasing efficiency.
