Role Title Lead — Multimedia Platform (Audio, Video, Display, Graphics, Camera & Sensors/DSP)
Experience 8 – 10 years
Primary Location Hyderabad, India (Transition phase); HCLTech Offshore Delivery Center thereafter
Work Model Physical co-location at Hyderabad mandatory during Transition (Month 1–3) for knowledge transfer and hardware/lab access; delivery shifts to HCLTech's Offshore Delivery Center (ODC) from Shadow (Month 4–6) onward.
Role Summary
Own end-to-end sustenance of the multimedia stack across six sub-disciplines — audio, video, display, graphics, sensors/DSP, and camera — spanning kernel drivers, HAL layers, and userspace frameworks on IoT platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Triage and resolve customer-reported and internal defects across audio (ADSP/codec offload), video (Venus/Codec2 encode-decode), display (SDE/DRM/KMS), graphics (Adreno GPU, OpenGL ES/Vulkan), camera ISP (CamX/Chi-CDK tuning), and sensor DSP/computer-vision pipelines.
- Own the camera-to-compute image pipeline end-to-end (sensor ISP compute/AI consumer) and the video post-processing chain (scaling, colour conversion, filtering, tone-mapping) as first-class scope within the pod.
- Perform root-cause analysis using kernel logs, ADSP/DSP core dumps, and multimedia framework traces; upstream fixes to kernel.org/vendor Linux trees where applicable.
- Validate fixes against vendor reference test suites and customer use-cases before release sign-off.
- Maintain multimedia HAL layers across firmware/driver updates and SoC revisions.
- Characterize and improve image/audio quality using vendor tuning tools and objective/subjective evaluation methods.
- Mentor the pod's Senior Engineers across sub-disciplines and maintain the pod knowledge base per the program's knowledge-management framework.
- Act as multimedia point of contact for escalations to the platform engineering team.
Must-Have Skills
- 8–10 years embedded multimedia / Linux BSP engineering,
spanning at least three of audio, video, display, graphics, camera or sensor/DSP.
- Strong C/C++ and Linux kernel driver debugging.
- V4L2 / DRM / ALSA subsystems.
- Camera ISP tuning tools and CamX/Chi-CDK architecture.
- Video codec standards (H.264/H.265/AV1) and hardware codec pipelines.
- Adreno GPU driver stack, OpenGL ES/Vulkan.
- Hexagon DSP fundamentals; JTAG and kernel crash-dump analysis.
- Video post-processing pipeline development (scaling, colour conversion, filtering).
Good-to-Have Skills
- Multi-camera synchronization and multi-stream concurrency experience.
- AI/ML inference pipeline integration with zero-copy buffer sharing to an NPU.
- GStreamer pipeline development.
- HDR, tone-mapping and colour-science exposure.
- Direct experience with Chromatix or equivalent tuning tools.
