Senior DevOps / Cloud Platform Architect – Terrarium Platform

About the Role

We are looking for a highly experienced and hands-on Senior DevOps / Cloud Platform Architect to take ownership of understanding, analyzing, and evolving the deployment and infrastructure architecture of the Terrarium platform.

Terrarium is a cloud-native Content Management and Enterprise Integration platform hosted on Microsoft Azure, running on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and deployed using Helm charts. The platform infrastructure and deployment automation are primarily implemented using Terraform, Helm, Python, and GitLab CI/CD.

The ideal candidate will be an independent contributor who can quickly understand a complex existing codebase and deployment ecosystem, reverse-engineer the current build and provisioning processes, understand the platform's integrations and dependencies, and define a clear path forward to provision and deploy a similar Terrarium environment using the existing codebase and automation.

This role requires someone who can operate independently, investigate complex technical dependencies, identify gaps and risks, and provide practical recommendations rather than simply executing predefined DevOps tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Platform & Codebase Understanding

- Perform an in-depth analysis of the existing Terrarium codebase and understand how the application, infrastructure, deployment automation, and configuration components are structured.
- Understand the interaction between Python application code, Terraform infrastructure code, Helm charts, Kubernetes manifests, and GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
- Reverse-engineer in the existing build, provisioning, configuration, deployment,



and environment lifecycle processes.
- Identify infrastructure dependencies, application dependencies, configuration requirements, secrets, certificates, service connections, and external system dependencies.
- Develop a explicit understanding of how the complete platform is provisioned and brought to a production-ready state.
- Analyze and manage the Azure cloud infrastructure supporting Terrarium.
- Understand the existing AKS architecture, including clusters, node pools, namespaces, networking, ingress, workloads, services, configuration, secrets, storage, and related Azure services.
- Understand and maintain the Terraform modules and infrastructure-as-code used to provision the platform.
- Understand and maintain Helm charts used for application deployment and configuration.
- Identify opportunities to improve infrastructure reliability, scalability, security, automation, and maintainability.
- Troubleshoot complex issues across Azure, Kubernetes, Terraform, Helm, and application layers.
- Understand the complete GitLab-based CI/CD architecture, including build, validation, infrastructure provisioning, application deployment, testing, and promotion of workflows.
- Analyze existing GitLab pipelines and identify how source code moves through different environments.
- Understand and maintain automated environment provisioning and deployment processes.
- Validate that the existing automation supports these deployment and environment lifecycle requirements.
