About Skillvelop

Skillvelop is an early-stage EdTech company offering personalised online math learning for school students in the US. As we grow, we're looking for a hands-on HR Generalist to build our People function from the ground up, working directly with the Founder.

About the Role

This is an individual contributor role with broad ownership. There is no existing HR team or mature system to inherit. You will build them. Your scope spans hiring, onboarding, HR operations, policies, performance and employee experience.

Key Responsibilities

- Talent Acquisition: Manage end-to-end hiring for Math Tutors, Enrollment Counselors, Operations, Marketing and other roles, from writing JDs and proactive sourcing to screening, interviews, offers and joining.
- Onboarding & HR Operations: Run onboarding, maintain employee records and documentation, track attendance, leave and probation, and manage exits.
- Systems & Processes: Build recruitment workflows, onboarding checklists, HR trackers and SOPs, and recommend tools and automation as we scale.
- Policies: Help draft and implement practical policies on leave, remote work, conduct, confidentiality and performance.
- Performance: Work with the Founder to set KRAs/KPIs and coordinate probation and performance reviews.
- Employee Experience: Be the first point of contact for HR queries, run regular check-ins and help build an accountable remote-work culture.

What We're Looking For

- 2–4 years of HR experience with robust hands-on recruitment




- Exposure to HR operations and the employee lifecycle
- Basic knowledge of Indian HR practices and employment compliance
- Strong written and spoken English
- Proficiency in Google Workspace, spreadsheets and job portals
- Organised, discreet with confidential information, and able to work independently
- Startup or EdTech experience is a plus

- Positions filled within agreed timelines, with quality candidates
- Interview-to-offer and offer-to-joining ratios
- Accuracy of employee records and timely onboarding
- Implementation of HR policies and processes
- Responsiveness and reliability
