Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified and motivated MD Microbiologist for a full-time, on-roll position at a medical college, combining academic teaching with advanced diagnostic laboratory responsibilities.

The candidate will be associated with a high-end, high-throughput microbiology and molecular biology laboratory processing over 1,500 samples per month, with a comprehensive diagnostic portfolio encompassing clinical microbiology, serology, autoimmune testing, molecular diagnostics, and automated culture systems.

The position offers an opportunity to work in a technologically advanced diagnostic environment while contributing to medical education, student training, laboratory quality management, and the development of specialized diagnostic services.

Key Responsibilities1. Advanced Diagnostic Laboratory Operations

- Oversee day-to-day operations of a high-throughput microbiology and molecular diagnostics laboratory.
- Supervise diagnostic workflows across clinical microbiology, serology, autoimmune testing, molecular diagnostics, and automated culture systems.
- Ensure accurate, reliable, and timely processing and reporting of laboratory investigations.
- Review, interpret, validate, and authorize laboratory reports within the scope of qualifications and applicable regulations.
- Monitor sample volumes, turnaround times, workflow efficiency, and laboratory performance indicators.
- Ensure appropriate utilization of automated platforms and molecular diagnostic technologies.
- Coordinate with laboratory personnel to optimize workflows and maintain operational efficiency.

2. Clinical Microbiology & Automated Culture Systems

- Supervise microbiological investigations,



including specimen processing, culture, organism identification, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
- Oversee automated culture systems and associated diagnostic workflows.
- Ensure appropriate interpretation of microbiological findings and antimicrobial susceptibility results.
- Support clinicians with the interpretation of microbiology reports and relevant clinical correlations.
- Ensure compliance with infection control practices, biosafety requirements, and laboratory SOPs.

3. Molecular Diagnostics, Serology & Autoimmune Testing

- Provide technical and clinical oversight of molecular diagnostic investigations, including PCR-based testing and other relevant molecular techniques.
- Supervise serological and autoimmune diagnostic workflows.
- Ensure appropriate quality control, validation, and verification of diagnostic methods.
- Investigate deviations, discrepancies, and quality-related issues.
- Support the introduction and optimization of new diagnostic assays and testing platforms.

4. Quality Assurance & Laboratory Management

- Ensure adherence to established SOPs, quality control procedures, biosafety guidelines, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Participate in internal and external quality assurance programs.
- Monitor quality indicators, turnaround times, and diagnostic performance.
- Support laboratory audits, documentation, method validation, and continuous quality improvement.




- Train and guide laboratory personnel to maintain high standards of technical competency and operational performance.

Qualifications & Experience

- MD in Microbiology from a recognized medical institution.
- Valid medical registration, as applicable.
- Experience in clinical microbiology and diagnostic laboratory operations is preferred.
- Exposure to molecular diagnostics, serology, autoimmune testing, and automated culture systems is desirable.
- Prior teaching experience in a medical college is preferred.
- Strong understanding of laboratory quality management, biosafety, and diagnostic workflows.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and team coordination skills.
